Basically took on a bunch of short term bloated contracts, which should give them a bit more depth next year, and in reward get the Warriors 2014 and 2017 1st round draft picks. While next year's draft should be loaded, the Warriors should be one of the top teams in the west with the acquisition of Iguodala. Still, Jazz could perhaps trade up again with two 1st round picks. Seems like they are still thinking in terms of building rather the near term success.

Golden State is probably a major injury away from a lottery spot, especially seeing that Howard isn't signing there. This could end up being a major boon for the Jazz.

Speaking of the Jazz, they should have relinquished that name to New Orleans when a franchise returned there.

Would anyone be shocked if Golden State implodes by 2017? (Or 2014, frankly) All those picks just to sign Iggy? I'm not sure his 13 ppg are worth 2 unprotected #1's.

Those picks would be at the end of the draft anyway because they're stacked now. Curry, Thompson, Iguadala, David Lee and Bogut. That's really good, and Bogut is a FA in 2014 so they can replace him with another solid big man. You gotta like GS for the next few years.

I was indifferent toward the Jazz until Malone sucker-elbowed Zeke then I hated the Jazz. Time and their irrelevance had mellowed my hate for them. Now with Trey they are one of the few teams I will make an effort to watch.

In monetary terms, that's a pretty interesting deal - the Warriors managed to rid themselves of about $24 million in contracts and they get a non-guaranteed contract worth about $800,000 or so, if memory serves. That is the epitome of clearing space, and indeed, they did so - according to some reports - get Andre Iguodala from Denver.
