OT - USMNT Gold Cup Final Game of Group Stage
Game means nothing to U.S. (already qualified for next round) and everything to Panama as Haiti shocks the tourney with a current 4 pts. A Panama win pushes them into 2nd in the group but Haiti should be fine as a 3rd place team with 4 pts (top 2 3rd place teams advance). A tie from Panama might push the to the next round with 3 pts.
- Guzan
- Chandler, Alvarado, Brooks, Johnson
- Bedoya, Beckerman, Bradley, Morales
- Wondo, Zardes
I'd prob play Chandler and Jozy this whole game and then sit them the rest of the tourney (ok maybe Jozy as a sub for 15 minutes) but I can deal with this mix as Zardes could use 60 min. Wondo is fine for garbage games.... Ice Man rest of tournament up top with Zardes I hope.
I'd have liked to see Johnson at an outside mid but he seems stuck at D for the U.S. Morales will be interesting to watch to see if he has any impact.
Nice tackle on Yedlin...by Deuce.
Yeah that was yakety sax all the way.
Zardes - dribble to the corner with 90 seconds left.
Zardes was not good today. Very bad passes and never seemed to know what to do once he got the ball.
Thank God that's over LOL
I dread the day when Duece is gone.
Changed that game. Morales may have wasted a big shot. Alvarado needs to get rid of that "one if error".
Bradley is better when Dempsey is on. Can't carry team by himself. First half ugly!
Love Yedlin's, Zander, Johnson, Dempsey and Bradley at the end. So many options and our back got tougher when we went on attack.
That diving poke pass was a thing of beauty. He kept many runs alive with precision touches that quite frankly any other American would have butchered. Agree that Bradley becomes a new player when he links up with Dempsey. I hope the heat was the other reason for the sluggish start...very frustrating.
Thanks. In short, Altidore gone in favor of Alan Gordon. DaMarcus Beasley on for Greg Garza. Joe Corona on for Alfredo Morales.
These are good moves in terms of sending messages about performance.
Altidore was bad. Morales didnt do a darn thing yesterday. I dont know about Garza but I would assume similar reasoning. Will be interesting to see if Beasley takes Chandler's role or if Jurgen liked what he saw from Brad Evans and maybe Beasley can stick to LB and push Johnson up to midfield.
Gordon is an interesting pick - he is basically a young Wondo lol.
Anyhow I like the emphasis on perform or GTFO.
Saw Jurgen talking during halftime of the Canada/Costa Rica game said the Jozy decision had a lot to do with fitness. They dont think hes near 100% yet.
