He doesn't have the pressure of trying to make a bowl game.  That or he knows he's going to fail irregardless, and has a hot wife to go home to.

I know... I guess i should have added a "/sarcasm" at the end perhaps?  But, according to m-w.com

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless

Main Entry: ir·re·gard·less
Pronunciation: \ˌir-i-ˈgärd-ləs\
Function: adverb
Etymology: probably blend of irrespective and regardless
Date: circa 1912

nonstandard : regardless

usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that there is no such word. There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.

(1) okay, i'm definitely not one to defend lane kiffin, but what did you expect him to say? that he's disappointed and wished he had stayed at tennessee? (2) maybe i have unusual tastes, but count me out of the "kiffin's wife is so hot" party.

I can't really agree with #2, but I agree, what do you expect a new coach to say?  He's not going to bemoan the difficult situation he's in with the sanctions.  Coaches tend to be relentlessly upbeat to the media, and the hyper recruiters are even more enthusiastic.

She also does nothing for me.

But no one should feel bad for Kiffin. He reportedly is getting some ridiculous amount of money (rumors are as much as $4 million per year) and he wouldn't even have the job if it weren't for the sanctions. He will also have at least 4-5 years because he has the best excuse in the world if his teams are not very successful.

~You've got no bowl eligibility left! You're down like 30 scholarships! ~Tis merely a flesh wound...

I'm wearing my usual Michigan shirt at the neighborhood swim meet, and this guy in a USC hat (one of those straw golfing hats) comes up and says "we're spotting you guys two years to win the Rose Bowl." This guy is the grandfather of one of the kids on the team, and I am supposed to act like a Michigan grad (not an OSU grad), so my response is "well, we'd better get to it then."

Anyway, turns out he lives in Tennessee. So I asked him if he wears the hat and how much grief he gets. He told me he routinely responds that they can have Kiffen and his dad back.

Sample of one USC Alumn, but FWIW it doesn't appear they are enamoured with Kiffen even before he's coached a game. (I wouldn't be in thier shoes either, and for much better reason than why some people felt the same toward Rich before even coaching a game at Michigan.)
