OT: US soccer player Charlie Davies in a serious accident
I know there's a good number of US soccer fans here so I thought I'd pass this along incase you haven't heard.
"U.S. National Soccer Team forward Charlie Davies is in stable condition following injuries sustained in a one-car accident on the George Washington Parkway early Tuesday morning in Northern Virginia. There was one fatality in the accident."

Yeah, I saw this on the Grant Wahl twitter feed (yes, the one from the CiL that Brian puts in). Apparently he's alright, but someone else died in the accident.

Accident around 3am, apparently he was not the driver, per Ives Galarcep twitter (espn writer)

"Davies' was undergoing surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. He is expected to be out of surgery by 5pm, after which an update on his status is expected to be provided by U.S. Soccer."
it's still unclear what the extent of his injuries are other than being reported as not life-threatening

Wow, I heard on the radio about the parkway being jammed this morning, didn't know it was this accident...

I hope he's okay. This is depressing.

I shall say a prayer for him.

This is horrible especially for the family of the young lady that died. I hope Charlie makes it through as well.

Aww shit. I hope he pulls through and can continue on to play in the World Cup and represent his/our country. Although, that is the least of his and everyone else's worries at this point.

Apparently it's been reported on DC television that Davies has a broken femur and broken tibia. Just awful.

I hate car accidents. Hate hate hate. I hope to hear positive news on his condition soon.

thats bad news... hopefully he can get back to france and play with his team... and of course play vs costa rica... hes big part of both his country and club team...

With two broken bones in the leg I doubt Costa Rica is in the cards.

that true... but hopefully he can recover quickly and fly out to france soon n rack in some goals and assists...

If this doesn't heal him sooner, well I don't know what will...

I like Charlie Davies and I hope he's alright. From a soccer standpoint, he and Jozy Altidore possess the kind of talent that, when working together, has the potential to raise the US national team to a higher level. But as we all know, that's secondary right now. The pics from the accident are horrific, it's amazing he's even alive.

I also enjoying watching those two play. I believe that they are the futures of US soccer and I think they complement each other well.
I hope he can recover quickly because he brings so much to our team. This accident makes me wonder about what kind of lineup changes we can expect. Knowing Bob Bradley this will give him more excuse to play MLS players.

Why in the sweet moses was he out at nearly 4am a couple days before a World Cup qualifier? What happened to team curfews?

Some pretty nasty injuries.

Those are some nasty injuries. The GW parkway can get kind of crazy out here in northern VA sometimes. I'm going to the Costa Rica game tomorrow, and I was really excited to see him. Davies and Altidore are my two favorite players. Hopefully he can make a full recovery and get back to playing eventually.
