Awesome!  Now we can sign a petition to reject something that almost certainly would have been rejected without the petition!  All while publicly humiliating a Michigan student and jokingly threatening to ruin his career and expel him!  Yay!

Just wondering, where is the text about threats, humiliation, and/or expulsion in:
In order to preserve the history of the University of Michigan, we request that the student group "Hail and Unite" does not receive funding from the Central Student Government. We also request that they be discouraged from creating the new fight song.

You seem to have hit the two reasons everyone bitching seems to have. One, you can't ridicule a student's bad idea. Why? Because he's a studennnaaand that's as far as I got before my eyes rolled back in my head and I started flailing at the keyboard. And two, that it was never going to happen anyway, which is exactly how we ended up with noodles in front of the stadium and sky writing.

Vaguely, yes. Look, the guy's not a 6 year old telling teacher he wants to ride a dragon to the moon when he grows up. He's a college sophmore, and a business major who's learned a very valuable lesson. Some things are so iconic you don't mess with them. He's just had his New Coke moment. Hopefully he carries that forward.

"I don't know who you are. If you're looking for jobs I can tell you I don't have any. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired from the internet. Skills that make me a nightmare for people who will be in job interviews with people who have googled you. If you vote this down unanimously, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for your facebook photos. I will not scour your instagram. But if you vote for this, I will find your linkedin. I will find your whole internet. And I will kill your search results."

EDIT: Im operating on the assumption that Brain was joking, but I this is probably what he was refering to.

To add to the "he's a college student" let us also not forget this label "Adult". He's one, life can suck, but this is a small hiccup on a long road of ups and downs. This kid DOES have a horrible idea, he DOES deserve to hear about it. He is learning more now than he would have if he passed this a long as a class project that was only graded by the professor.

I also couldn't find any threats of expulsion or the like as Pinky mentioned, maybe these were commentors and not main articles?

Anyways, this adult is not a horrible person. He had a bad idea, lesson learned. He's growing up everyday as we all do, thankfully.

The SJW making fun of epilepsy... it never ceases to amaze me how these people get so worked up over non-issues, almost to the point of fabricating outrage, and can be so downright careless otherwise.

When someone publicly tries to push an agenda that has the potential to affect the gameday experience for years to come, to change years and years of tradition, those who are against it have just as much right to speak as those who are for it.

Besides, David Brandon just left; fans deserve a huge break from his "4 hours of cacaphony" style of "entertainment."  Forcing another "fight song" down the throats of fans who are aching for a return to tradition does not qualify as a "break."

The kid means well, but feedback like what has gone on here is essential to keep the school from further alienating a sizable portion of the fanbase.

.....it's hard to distiniguish as to whether he's trying to promote Michigan or himself in some of his posts. There are a few regulars here that fit that mold.

With that said, everything that most of us know about eachother centers on this blog.  Going as far as to basically state that you hate someone due his writing style and content seems a little harsh.

I remember a time when WD was this super upbeat, positive young man who knew all these things about U of M off the top of his head. That was really amaznig. Then the email thing happened and suddenly somebody's head became a wee bit too big for their body. And its cool, you can only be the person you are.

Or maybe I'm just a petty little bitch. Hard to tell.
