seemed like they're ready.

I was at that game, and I still feel no better about it... But - along that line of thought they are probably an upper tier MAC team if they were in the MAC this year.

I respect this. I still never want to see them in the Big House again. Is that rude? Probably.
Touchdown Michigan!
They are still looking at jumping into the Big East but the story I saw said the study to determine if they jump may take a while. I bet they wait until the Big East is about to implode and become a Conference USA or WAC level conference, losing their AQ status.
I was in Boone NC in Sept10 wearing my M garb of course. I went on campus to discuss the state of affairs and reperesent. They are still geeked about kicking our ass. This is the impetus to make the jump to 1-A. They have a small campus and will rely on alumni and the famous win to carry them in 1-A.
I give my props to App St, They deserve it.
From the Red Cedar Message Board: "God hates us." Yes He does Lil Bro, yes he does. Everyone hates you.
Still don't know how we only beat these guys by 5 points.
Sincerely,

It could have something to do with being up by 18 with just over 5 minutes left and taking the foot off of their throat (and Hagerup dropping a longsnap)
Being the Minutemen and all...
Toodles
They should dominate the MAC in water polo...
or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
I remember listening to the pregame and Beckman said the team we played was aided by mass tranfers from FBS schools (I thought he said 5 alone from Syracuse). They played tough, so I'm not taking anything away from their performance at the Big House (god knows I was scared) but they won't be able to poach from FBS schools when they make the jump. Should be interresting dynamic in the MAC, though.
No matter what happens.....They're still gonna run out and touch that banner.
When they were in A2 they played great and I though their fans where really classy. We had a blast with a group of UMass fans and players parents before and after the game. Plus they were very appreciative of little things like me offering to take a picture of them in front of the stadium after the game.
I think they will do well in the MAC. Just watch out for Rufus!
Marcus Camby and that other beast named Roe were unstoppable back in the day
Tai Streets is still open...
...and his "methods" had a little to do with that.

Don't forget about the gunner, Mike Williams. I saw a UMass-GW game live back in the early 90s and watched Williams single-handedly beat GW in about 5 seconds by: (1) hitting a 3 and getting fouled, (2) missing the free throw and getting the rebound, and (3) hitting another three. I remember my buddy and I got seats in the GW alumni section and we were jumping up and down over witnessing the amazing feat. Needless to say, the others in our section were not nearly excited.

Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!
they would probably want to stay in the A-10 for hoops
Argh geography. Put 'em in the Big East, it'd hardly affect the football strength of the conference.

Get their feet wet in the MAC, then help fill out the Big East. They're a natural rival to UConn.
The MAC is entirely contiguous even with UMass... they do have teams in New York and Pennsylvania, you know.
When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing. -- Bo Schembechler
Yeah, Buffalo, New York. That's like saying Memphis is a geographical fit with the ACC.

Does this mean GVSU bumps up and takes the spot of UMass?
This marginally hurts Big East schools like UCONN and Syracuse, as well as BC.
Missing Ann Arbor
you would think BC would be in the Big East due to location, religious identity, and tradition but they actually went to the ACC a while ago. No one knows why. No one cares either.
I cannot wait to see the UMASSacre of my Alma Mater.

App State up to D1A while we're at it. Whatever makes us look better.

UMass football has been doing pretty well in recent years in the FCS.
My force powers tell me there will be many embarrassing ass kickings of EMU and Bowling Green in the future.
They would have beaten the piss out of Western this year. I'm a WMU grad. The MAC is a good fit and they might have a Marshall/Temple trajectory.
Yes, I follow MAC football.

I feel remotely better about our performance against them.
