somehow we're only 124th
Also Evan Bates and Emily Samuelson go to UM.
very close call:
"Anything Michigan sports related."
I suppose it can go either way. Go Blue!
I personally know Meryl Davis' father (through a business relationship) and have been hearing about/following her career for the past three years. He's very proud of his daughter, Charlie and where they've gotten themselves....
Also, my brother knew/knows Evan Bates well from childhood.
I'll be pulling for Davis & White all the way, with the hopes that Bates and Samuelson win the silver.
Yes, I never thought in my entire life that I'd be interested in ice dancing....weird as hell.
Really, really weird.
Hmm. I've known Evan since middle school. I wonder if I possibly know your brother. Are you (or is your family) from Ann Arbor?
I know Charlie and Meryl very well, as well as, Canadian, Scott Moir and his partner Tesse Virtue. Also, I know both Ben Agosto and Tanith Belbin.
to win gold. They're the favorite to win it.
I'm also rooting for Tanith Belbin(her partner's name escape me at the moment, probably because Belbin is really good looking). Both of them are currently reside in Detroit area.
Belbin & her partner reside in a town outside of Philly. They used to reside in canton but no longer
that I can't run into Belbin somewhere in Detroit area? Damn, I better move to Philly so I can stalk them so more. :-P
Speaking of Philly, I can go for a Philly Cheesesteak. yummmmmmmm
or snake sequins. Maybe that is what Red should threaten his hockey team with. "Either you start playing better or you have to wear a fur collar with sequins on your uniforms" and then deal with PETA.
Not bad, since they put up a score better than they ever have, and were still favored with the lower expectations. I'm worried about home ice for the Canadians though (who train in Canton too).
Southeast Michigan is apparently the mecca of Ice Dancing.
More seriously, it has been for awhile. I remember when I was in school, someone in my hall was a former skater who was a part time assistant coach, and knew a lot of the skaters from 88 and 92 (and I guess 94, but I didn't know her then). Beyond Michigan students, and Belbin's sad escape, the Canadian ice dancers train in Canton, and the young American male who fell a couple of times is trained by former Olympian Yuko Sato in Michigan. I'm sure if I knew more about it than just the Olympic weeks, I could list off more. But major skaters have been training here for awhile, not just ice dancers.
I don't think I've watch any ice dancing other than Tanith since Bolero, but I'll be watching the finals Sunday night, so I can say go Red, White, and GO BLUE!
I somehow stumbled upon Tanith Belbin during the Torino Olympics and then had to explain to my wife this new interest I had in ice dancing. She saw through me like she had X-ray vision.
Seriously, we should be very proud that 2/3 of the US ice dancing team are Wolverines. They are great athletes who train as hard as any other Michigan jock. I hope they bring home a medal. These are the type of things that truly make Michigan a special university.
I'd also really love to hear a "Go Blue" from someone in the audience.
