OT: Ultimate Sporting City Semifinal-Detroit v. New York
Detroit, powered by Mgoblog, has made it to the semis to face New York. Let us win. As Detroit is the best sporting city on the planet, let's win this.
Gots to go with the hometown on this one.
Detroit-Boston for the final if everything works out the way it should. Then I will abstain cause I can't vote against the Wolverines, but I can't vote against the Celtics-Pats-Bruins.
I certainly can. Boston... Really?
Born in Norwood, MA. Just outside Boston. Raised in PR, though...but since Puerto Rico doesn't have pro teams I think I'll go with Boston.
I'm sorry, but I'm suffering from Obscure Internet Fan Bragging Poll voter fatigue.
Misopogon represent!
how they give the NCAAF advantage to NY for Army over Michigan. Nothing against army, but isn't this the all time winningest program?
Michigan and Army have played each other 9 times (a large percentage of which were played in the WWII era). Army has won 5.
Makes sense. I don't particularly think thats a good metric, but at least there is some method to the madness.
And College Basketball... what's weird is that they count total wins across all sports, including baseball, which gives NY the overall edge in terms of total wins.
College Sports: Detroit > New York
Pro Sports: New York > Detroit
Internet: Mgoblog > Everything
Pro Sports: New York > Detroit
Ummm...have you heard of the Red Wings?
the knicks?
Or the winningest franchise in the history of sports, the New York Yankees
you still have the mets....
Pro Basketball/Hockey: Detroit > NY
Pro Baseball/Football: NY > Detroit
Pro Sports:
NHL: Wings > Rangers, Wings > Islanders, Det 2 NY 0
NBA: Pistons > Knicks, Det 3, NY 0
MLB: Push, Yankees> Tigers, Tigers > Mets, Det 4 NY 1
NFL: Jets > Lions, Giants > Lions Det 4 NY 3
Overall, Det 4, NY 3
The Yankees are far and away the best team in baseball and while the Tigers have a more storied history than the Mets, there's no way that it matches the Yankees over the Tigers.
World Series Wins
Mets: 2
Tigers: 4
Yankees: 27
World Series Appearances
Mets: 4
Tigers: 10
Yankees: 40
Ahh the Bad Boy days!!!!
(ok, by the time those new to the thread get back, they'll know that Detroit is CRUSHING New York. And if I might be allowed to hazard a guess as to why this is so, I would venture to say that it has something to do with a certain blog run by a certain Brian Cook...)
Not a goalie. I just voted and Detroit is CRUSHING New York, at about 210 votes.
