OT - U2 concert at MSU
On June 26th, U2 will have a concert at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.
Anyone else going? Location aside, it should be awesome and U2 puts on some of the best shows on earth.
Also, it sounds like the stage will completely tear up the field so MSU will need to get new grass.
I don't care for Spartans or Bono.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!!!
U2 is probably the second worst band of all time, right behind Metallica. Since I like to subject myself to horendeous pain, I will be there.
Early speed-metal Metallica (i.e., pre-Black Album) is awesome. But yes, U2 blows, and blows righteously hard.
Metallica kicks ass, their first 4 albums (Kill em All, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, And Justice for All) are still 4 of the greatest albums ever recorded, and they still rule live. Yes, I realize Load and Reload sucked ass, and they probably shouldn't have recorded St. Anger inside of a garbage can, but they are still legends. Go listen to Dyers Eve and get an education.
Amen.
I would kill for Rush to play Michigan Stadium.
The sound would be awful for a concert in the big house. I love Rush more than anything, but please not in the big house.
"It's Saturday night; I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta, and my all-Rush mix tape... let's rock!"
If they do the 360-tour spider stage thing, I believe it. Saw the show at Soldier Field the day of the ND game two seasons ago, and it was insane.
It sounds like it is the 360-tour stage.

Apparently U2 is paying for MSU's new football field since their stage will destroy the current one.
I hear he holds the record for World's biggest crap, something like 14.5 Courics.
No, he is the world's biggest piece of crap, weighing in at 80 courics
Call him #2.
It's become really popular recently to hate on Bono and U2. For my money they are the best band of the last 30 years.
I am not the type of person that will dislike bands just because other people like them or anything like that, but there are things about some bands that turn me off to them. I actually like a lot of U2 music, but Bono's attitude just turns me off to liking them as a band... much like how Dave Matthew's Band fans will simply call him "Dave" out of context and expect me to know who the hell they are talking about. I like some of their music but their fans in that case drive me away.
All that, and I just like that South Park episode :)
I think a lot of the backlash against Bono has come because people are sick of seeing him get all of this publicity for his philanthropic efforts. It does get a little annoying seeing him on tv all the time talking about Africa and lecturing us on what we should do and whatnot. At the end of the day though I think his heart is in the right place.
I doubt it has anything to do with the publicity for his philanthropic efforts. It probably has a lot more to do with his inability to be anything but incredibly smug in any media he receives. I don't mind U2, even down right enjoy some of their stuff, but Bono is way over the top on the pretentiousness scale.
There has been so much music created in the last 30 years that it's beyond impossible for me to pick just one band and label them as the best.
We can hate on Sparty all day, but I gotta admit they have an impressive agricultural program there. I read somewhere they developed a new strategy for growing corn faster and grew the field used in the movie "Signs"
I would rather attend Purdue. Purdue is right up there with MSU in their turf management programs.
True Story. They use the same technology on Danny Hope's mustache to make it grow thicker.
Bono has been known for his charitable works in blighted areas...
But i will go.
Saw this concert last fall in Soldier Field and it was fantastic, and just had to go again. I first saw U2 in 1984 in a small venue and have been a fan since. You won't be sorry, despite the Spartan surroundings.
U2? Are you for real? East Lansing? Are you also for real? Sounds worse than an amputated everything.
I saw them at The Meadowlands in 2009 with Muse and it was quite a show - I've been a big U2 fan from their beginning.
They were getting some pretty good heat however for that stage set. It was widely derided as having the biggest carbon footprint in the history of entertainment - truly spectacular but maybe not quite consistent with a do-good-to-the-world image.
Great night though - Muse was a pleasant surprise at the time.
and a make-up for having to cancel last summers show at Spartan Stadium.
Would love to go, but even the terrible seats were over 70 bucks
Great concert to attend... for your parents.
...I'd rather have GWAR
triple picture fail and i have no idea how to fix it....
i am going to get negged to Bolivia for this...
All my picture uploads get automatically re-scaled down to the size of the box.
That fucking Irish band?
