OT - U of M Art Designs

Submitted by NoNon on

MGoBloggers,

I am posting on behalf friend who creates digital paintings specifically for Michigan athletes and wanted to showcase his latest design.  Since he doesn't have enough mgopoints to create a thread I'm helping him out and thought mgobloggers might have some interest.

Here's his latest design of a pretty good Michigan quarterback that recently played...

He is planning on a few more designs and can do any past or present player.  It's also not limited to just football.  Any Michigan athlete can be designed.

If you're interested, here's the link to his site.

Thanks and Go Blue!

but I'd like to get a much higher resolution view than is available at the site. The original artist essentially states that photographs were used as reference material rather than as the base underlying image, and if that's accurate he's quite talented.

The content is 100% generated by me.  For my next painting I will give some background on my process to show how I generate the work.  *Also, I keep the images small because I don't want folk saving them for personal use.  I'll put some up with a water mark asap.

I'm thinking a Woodson piece would be appropriate.

Thanks for the compliment.

It's 16x20.  I'm potentially producing more depending on interest but they all will be signed.  Right now I need to figure out the legal issues of producing this- I'm sort of thinking it might not be a good idea to try to sell them.

Your friend may be getting a call from the lawyers for: Michigan, the NCAA, the Big Ten, Adidas and/or the person who took that picture.

The work is nice, though. Good luck to you buddy.

Have any ideas to get around any of those situations?  I obviously can take of the B10 and Adidas logos and get permission from the photographer but otherwise is there anything I really can do. I worried about it in the first place and now I'm thinking I should take it down.  It's too bad because I just love doing this type of work and I'm not trying to turn a huge profit or anything.  Any help would be much appreciated.

For a digital print the price is pretty high at $150.  That being said if you had a digital print of Woodson's interception against State, at a reasonable price.  I would deffinetly buy one to go with my other three paintings and prints I have of Woodson.
