OT: Tyler Bray is getting paid (funny story, not necessarily true)

Submitted by Jskohl88 on

This is just way too funny. Tyler Bray told reporters that "he gets paid to win football games," then backtracked and said "getting paid" meant his education. Love the SEC

I don't know about anyone else here, but I would be livid if I was paying Tennessee kids and getting the results they have gotten since easing Phil Fulmer out the door.

To be fair, Bray (and the offense in general) has been pretty stellar. Tennessee has just been suffering from a defensive implosion that makes Gerg look like Greg. Maybe they only pay one side of the ball?

Sounds like a pretty harmess comment to me, but because it's the SEC, people are bound to pay closer attention to it.  Just a poor choice of words by the QB.

it sounds like he was answering a question about whether he was an NFL prospect, and he is quoted as responding, "I couldn't care less. That's what you guys are paid to write about and talk about." I presume he then said, "I'm paid to win games."

So my interpretation is that he mistakenly used the same construction to contrast his role with that of reporters. It's an understandable mistake. Still funny, though, especially his attempt to recover from the gaffe.

He got the short end of that deal. If you get a free education for winning football games at Tennessee then the whole roster's likely paying for college. Should've gone to Auburn, or Arkansas, or Ole Miss, or Mizzou instead. You get a free SEC education for losing, there.
