Gunman appears to still be at large, but no fatalities have been reported; one student is in critical condition.

I hope the gunman is apprehended with no more injuries and that the student recovers promptly.

MOD EDIT - forgot to do this earlier. This happened in Cedar Village, so near campus but not on it. - LSA

***Not a campus shooting*** retitle

I hope the students recover.

It's pretty tiring that everytime someone dies or there are shots fired near campus it's posted on Mgoblog.  I come here to "somewhat" get away from the real world.  Do we post everytime someone dies from a medical mistake in the US?  Because it happens 71 times as often as someone is murdered.  Not looking to debate but I come here for fun.

People with issues know now how easy it is to walk into a school of any kind and shoot till they get the attention and revenge they think they deserve... And it won't stop until it's no longer "safe" for them to do so.

Hopefully people recover quickly and fully and the shooter is brought to justice!

It's 'near' MSU campus...both are students tho.

As much as we all disdain school shootings...this isn't a 'school shooting' from what I can gather.

It's just a shooting involving MSU students, near campus.

Logic: If I, a UofM grad, go to Briarwood mall and a lunatic shoots me...is it a school shooting?

This is happening wayyyyy to much. There are crazy ppl everywhere, keep your guard up, but live your life. If your number is called...so be it. I'm not living in fear.

Just my 2 cents worth. Happy Saturday everyone. Also, hope for a speedy recovery to the students injured and justice for the shooter.

The article did say "This does not appear to be a random act".  If true, it implies that the people involved knew each other and had some history.  Hopefully, it is not a case of innocent bystanders being targeted in a random act.

I can control who I hang out with, but I can't control being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This sounds a little like the football player at Eastern who was shot to death at an off campus apartment last year. A target shooting. But thankfully these people survived.

Hope they catch the bastard that did this.

That apartment complex and the surrounding ones are the source for almost every act of stupidity out there and it's a damn shame. Regardless of sports and the blind fandom that can cloud even the most rational being, MSU is a great school with a beautiful campus and an really good people. Hopefully they catch the coward and can give back some piece of mind to the Spartan community.

Cedar Village on (old) Cedar street. Right across from 209 Cedar Street. (I used to live there) There is a seperate apartment complex and the shooting happened in the bottom floor. Drug deal gone wrong is what the neighbors predict.

Horrible news.  Cedar Village is literally next to the bridge that leads to the law school and some dorms, so very close.  Hope that everything is taken care of as quickly and safely as possible.

Seems like a pretty normal shooting to me. If this had happened a few miles west in regular Lansing, I doubt anyone would have heard about it, but because its near a college campus, all of sudden its huge news. My guess is probably something drug-related, I dont there's really any gang violence up there. But maybe I just watch too much Detroit news.
