OT-Two new Wolverine Fans have joined us (UPDATED WITH PHOTOS FROM TONIGHT)

Submitted by weasel3216 on

Last night my wife delivered, via c-section, our twins.  Ellis and Henrik; Ellis weighed 3 lb 12 oz and Henrik weighed 3 lb 14 oz. and were born at 10:26 and 10:28 respectively.  They were 34 weeks along and are doing great.  Henrik was hooked up to oxygen for a few hours this morning  but is now breathing all on his own and both had had their first feeding this morning.  They may have a long or short road through the NICU (only time will tell), but all signs are pointing in the right direction.

My wife and I had to go through IVF, through a doctor in Michigan, and it has been a hell of a process.  Even with all of the ups and downs of the IVF and then the pregancy, i have never been this happy in my life.

Both Ellis and Henrik are holding out for the Michigan lacrosse scholarship, but do hold offers from Dad's Backyard Lacrosse.

UPDATED: photo on left is Ellis and right is Henrik.  I was able to hold and feed Ellis tonight and it was amazing.  Thank you everyone, this blog is amazing.

Congrats man. I know a few people who have had to do IVF (some successfully, one not) and it is a crazy, taxing process that takes a hell of a commitment and dedication. Best of luck.

Congratulations! I firmly believe that it doesn't get better than the day your kids are born. Good luck, God bless, and get some sleep.

that's one of the best things about this blog is you get to know so many posters on a personal level. my favorite OT is stuff like this. I don't know many Michigan fans here in southern Ohio, so its nice to learn of other fans and new fans like this!

Congratulations to you and your wife on becoming MGoParents!

Hopefully the little ones are out of the NICU and you are home as a family soon. If I may also say it, I really like the names.

I concurr- take advantage of that NICU and get some sleep...It may be the last you get for a while =)

Meta: I use flickr to host pictures, and get the puffin browser that lets you use the website's normal flash comment system to post pictures(yes, flash on an apple...the times we live in!).

As the father of twins, I endorse this wholeheartedly. Also, follow the 3 hour schedule the NICU will get them on as long as you can. As preemies, they're probably going to take a while to feed at home. If you don't keep them on that schedule religiously, it will be really tough. Actually, the first three months are tough, regardless, but the schedule makes it a bit more regulated chaos.

Pad level?

C'mon this is not the first birth announcement posted on the board....it's annoying that we always have to ask every time.  Let's get with the program people!

Congrats.  3 lbs and change isn't too bad for twins, but they're a definite redshirt until you can get them in bulked up.  We'll expect progress reports quarterly.

To load a picture, link to it from an image hosting site (Facebook, Flikr, TinyPic) using the "image" button on the far right in a comment or in your OP. Just click the button and paste the link, I don't know if this will work from the iPhone app or if you need an actual browser to do it.

I'm on Android and rarely use the app (I lose my modding buttons) even there, although I do have it installed. Just linking should still be an option, but if it's Facebook the link needs to be to the picture itself and not the picture in the profile.

Congrats! My wife just finished her first egg donation a few weeks ago, and while we can't get any specifics, we are hoping to find out if the couple she donated to was successful.

Fatherhood is a blast and a ton of fun, but the C-Section recovery can be rough on your wife (it was on my wife) so definitely be a good MGoHusband and wait on her hand and foot as much as you can the next couple weeks. Hope her and your kids get to 100% soon!

twins are great!  blessings to you and your wife for those two little ones.

p.s. don't fall for the 'one fake out of four' on their numbers at this age.  when they get back to the house we'll send a combine crew out to measure.   no pressure though.  give it a day or two...

Congrats. My son Henry was born on April 27th at 32 weeks and is still in the NICU. He's just over 5lb now and should be heading home soon. Good luck with everything - it's tough going back and forth to the NICU and not having your newborn(s) at home, but trust me it goes fast.
