As a braves and tigers fan, I curse that stadium until the day it's destroyed. As a Tigers fan it was also nice to see Youkolis get bounced from the playoffs today too.

What's your speculation if the Yankees would have played the Tigers?
Sad to say I think the sweep might have come our way as well. The collapse will hopefully light a fire under front office, players, and coaches.
This Tigers season was like a 162 game slow motion version of theKordell Steward Michael Westbrook porcupine enema. - Well maybe not that bad, but I'm glad we were put out of our misery after this frustrating season.

We'd have been swept, yeah. Actually, I think we'd have made a series of it had there been no tiebreaker game.
But I'm just happy to see the Twins lose Game 2 on an ump's blown call. Karma is, in fact, a bitch.

I don't hate the Twins for taking advantage of the Tigers choke job. If I hate anyone in the Central it will always be the White Sox (worst fans, worst manager and WORST announcers!). That being said, I will agree with BG Wolverine13 that I am very glad that the Metrodome will never see baseball again. That place sucked for baseball, period. It was nice to UM football throught the years, but the new Gopher stadium looks great, and I now feel like I have a reason to go see UM play there.

Completely agree, the dome was a travesty for both the Twins and Gophers. In its later years, every once in a while a fist-sized piece of accumulated dust would fall out of the roof an into some poor bastard's beer. But god damn it could be loud.

The Tigers were playing terrible ball at the end of the season. The Twins earned the right to the division and the playoffs by proving head-to-head they were the better club, but the truth is whoever represented the Central was going to get smashed by the Yankees. I think Detroit might have won a game, compared with the Twins who develop a baffling inferiority complex whenever pinstripes are in the building. But there was no way, as the hottest team in baseball, the Yankees lose this series. Tigers fans might consider thanking Minnesota for saving them the embarrassment.

Ironically, the Twins caught Tigers Syndrome and could do nothing with RISP this entire series. Also, Joe Nathan got rocked like no other.

So, defeating a team on the field of play can lead you to "karma" in the form of losing to the next team you play? I don't follow that.
So, was Michigan's last-second loss to Iowa "karma" because they defeated Notre Dame at the end of the game? That makes no sense either.

I was thinking the exact same two points. The only thing I can think of... is a "blown" call against the tigers.... was it that non HBP call? I vaguely remember.
Either way, that series was a close one, despite the sweep. As a mets fan, I remember the 2000 series was a 5 game series, but each game was tight, typically coming down to one play/mistake the Mets made.

I've made at least 2 comments noting the same thing lately. Karma is a word thrown around here at extremely high rates lately. It's not being used right in any sense. The Twins losing is not karma. Winston being injured is not karma.
About as many people understand what karma is as people who understand irony. Rain on your wedding day is not ironic. Twins losing is not karma.

The Twins losing is not karma. The Twins getting hammered by an umpire's blown call in a crucial moment after being aided by a similar blown call in a similarly crucial moment: that is karma.

But it's not. Karma is punishment or reward for your own actions/deeds. Just because an umpire missed a call, that does not make it karma. That means it's just the statistical probabilities evening out of calls one way or the other.
Karma would be if their pitcher threw at Inge's head on purpose and tripped over the mound as Inge charges, causing a pulled groin. That's punishment for throwing at him. To say it's karma because of what umpires did is wrong.

Borderline case, but I don't think that justifies celebrating "bad karma" coming back to injure a player. Like I said in that thread, hoping he gets caught breaking the law again would be better suited. Then he can lament all he wants in a FPMITA Prison.

Yes we get it...you like Twins.
It wasnt karma...Minnesota just sucks and made it because they play in the Central. If they played in the West or East, instead of 5 playoff appearances since 2002 they'd have 0. And yes this does apply to Detroit too. The Central division in its current state is by no means a barometer of how good your team is. I'd say how you play against the upper echelon of the rest of the league is.
