OT: TV Commercials

Submitted by captainlonghair on
We all know and love Denise, but it seems that she's slowly and unfortunately fading away from the airwaves. I've noticed another commercial that's been airing quite frequently across all channels, one involving a mother driving her kids to lacrosse practice in her Lexus GX. I had to comment on the fact that she's all done up, complete with the oversized designer bag and heels. Quite a ridiculous get-up for the kids' practice I'd say. What are some other annoying/terrible commercials out there?

It's not going anywhere despite how much I complain, but I really hate the whole "testimonial" advertisement genre with actors pretending they're real people plugging products.

My wife wants to know who she's hooking up with at the soccer game? She took one look at her boots and said "you CAN'T walk the sidelines in FUCK-ME heels!" Probably good advice for football as well.

The Olive Garden comes up with these attempts at heart-warming little vignettes about the joys of getting together with family, etc. They are all awful. Some awesome commercials that I really wish would come back: the Slowski turtles (comcast).

..they are trying to imitate Wendy's old "Where's the Beef" commercial and make their shitty catch phrase a part of American lexicon. Fuck them and the horses they rode in on. They have pretty much ensured that I will go to Office Depot for my office supplies.

Those E-Trade commercials with the toddlers are hilarious. The new one where the kid shows his suprise face was awesome. It reminded me of the scene in Office Space where the guy showed his "O face". I cried laughing when I went back and watched that movie.

I freaking hate those damn caveman commercials. The very, very first one was kinda funny, after that, shoot me. I really can't even stand them to the point where I'll change the channel or mute it. If I'm a party I'll leave the room or plug my ears or something. Really, I really really hate those commercials - stupidest most annoying commercials ever. I think what makes it worse is that there are people who actually think they are funny! IME of course :)

He may be a great professor, but he's also the one who spear-headed the lawsuit against the university for the athletic facilities to have more handicapped accessibility. I have nothing against those who are handicapped, but the whole charade was a waste of time and money as far as I'm concerned.

The Pizza Hut commercials where they trick "unsuspecting" customers into believing they are being served dinner at a gourmet restaurant only to be "surprised" by the wait staff, who exclaim "ITS PIZZA HUT!" The commercial itself is only slightly annoying. The insulting part is their claim: real people on hidden cameras. Uhm, actors are real people. And just because the cameras are hidden does not mean the actors do not know cameras are there. Technically Pizza Hut is not lying to me, but they are doing their best to deceive me.

They had one where they supposedly blind folded the family, drove them around like they're going to a restaurant and then snuck them back into their own house - that's right, their own fucking house - and then served them Pizza Hut delivery. They wisked the blindfolds off and the family feigned shitting themselves because they couldn't believe it was Pizza Hut delivery. Truly one of the most pathetic assaults on the public's intelligence I've ever witnessed.

The site had out takes from the baby commercials and they're quite funny. I think they're up on youtube as well. The one where the black baby turns around and looks at the mom's ass and says "Oh..my...goodness!" made me laugh quite hard.

The Empire Carpet commercials. They were out a couple years back and recently I saw it again, the same exact one. Also At&t and Verizon constantly going back and forth about their maps is quite annoying. The Miller lite and bud light commercials are pretty funny and it seems theres is always some new variety to them.

When Freecreditreport.com comes on, I can't grab the remote quick enough to mute it or change the channel. Doesn't matter if they're pirates or in some car. I can't stand hearing that guy sing. A distant 2nd would be for that insurance co with the tranny looking chick who says, "Discount!!" after everything.
