OT - Turco & the Stars
So I am trying to detach myself from the lose to Little Bro by enjoying the opening of the NHL season.
Seeing that I'm down here in Arlington, Tx I love watching Marty Turco and the Stars. Of course the Red Wings and Stars have had some great matchups over the years and the Red Wings are hated around these parts. What's the sentiment up in Michigan towards the Stars and Turco?
Is Marty welcomed "back home" or is he just the goalie for the enemy? Just curious.
Go Blue!

for his incredible play at Michigan. I'm NOT a Stars fan and never will be but I appreciate everything Marty did for both M and the K-Wings! ... Go Wings!!

Stars aren't really hated up this way. Its more anaheim as of late, although that might change since pronger is in philly. It may be Chicago now, with hossa going over there. The avs thing has kinda died since the avs haven't been that great. Wouldn't mind seeing turco in a wings sweater though

yeah that would be really tough for me. he is a big reason I watch the Stars so I would hate it if he was gone but it would be cool to have him as a Red Wing.
Granted he can't win at Joe Lewis to save his life so he may only be good for the road games.

what is the general feeling towards steve ott down in dallas??? his dad was my boss when i lived in canada and steve was always around the bar. he always acted like a douche.

We love Steve Ott down here for probably the very reasons he was hated around the bar up there. He is a true agitator. The feeling in the Metro-plex is that the best thing to happen to him was that broken hand last year. It made him stop fighting and start scoring. He now plays more like Brendan Morrow and less like Sean Avery.

he was a 50 goal guy in the OHL, but so was darren mccarty. fighting was steve's biggest problem when he got to the NHL, cause he got his ass kicked more often then he won. but his dad was so proud of him for being in the top 10 for figting majors in his rookie year. the only time steve was cool about anything is when i taught him how to play golden tee.

Never had much of an opinion on Turco since he's never really done the Wings any damage. I do despise the Stars, however.
I used to live in the U.P. a long time ago and was a big fan of Dino Ciccarelli and the Minnesota North Stars, so seeing that franchise move to Texas really got under my skin.

I don't think most Detroit NHL fans pay attention to Turco.... He's a good goalie but he's only won..what, twice at the Joe? Big props for what he did at M but he's been pretty average in the NHL, IME.

As a fellow DFW resident (Rowlett) - i'm glad we have turk, even though he spaces out sometimes. New year - new look and feel. Go Stars!

I'm thinking the Stars are going to be a little like our Wolverines. Some growing pains through the transition with new leadership but headed in the right direction.

I would love to see Turco in red and white.

Sean Avery...
Are we allowed to mention that name when discussing the Stars?
Talk about all-time fail!

Yeah I threw up in my mouth a little when I typed it. That truly was one of the dumbest decisions I have seen a local team make.
Right up there with Jerry firing Tom Landry. Jerry firing Jimmy Johnson. Jerry hiring Barry Switzer. Jerry signing TO. I think I should stop now. I feel dirty.
