Because Boise State versus Louisiana Tech couldn't wait until Saturday.
And also because your work week is crushingly depressing and yes, even WAC football will do.
LOOOOOVE Tuesday night footbaw!
They did say they would play anybody, anytime. I guess someone took the anytime thing literally.
This makes me wish they had added "anywhere" to that statement...
I'm a little disappointed, though. Tuning in at 8:06 EST, and Boise hasn't scored yet. Nevermind that the game just started *laughs*
Side note, the commentary team has already earned a half dozen facepalms from me in about 2 minutes. I know it's just Tuesday night football, ESPN, but can you not do better than "He's a coach's player; not a player's coach, but a coach's player."
is still extremely hard to look at.. god i cant even watch it. TURN IT OFF!!
Not having HD, this camera angle above the field makes it so hard to see.
I'm taking chalk with BSU at -36.5.
There is something so beautifully right about college football on a Tuesday nite.
It may not be in the same league as Barkevious Mingo, but LA Tech's Dusty Rust has a pretty nifty moniker.
Saturday - Michigan, and a few other assorted teams
Sunday - M alums and some other guys
Monday - same as Sunday
Tuesday - non AQ football
Wednesday - Big East football
Thursday - ACC football
Friday - HS football
Rinse and repeat.
Friday - West Virginia @ UConn.
Like he said, high school football.
should be watching heat - celtics
because the NBA blows. I'd rather watch crickets mating or Amish rake fights.
Definitely the Amish rake fight, maybe the crickets mating. If anything the latter is a push.
What about Amish cricket fighting on rakes?
If I'm around the board, I try to catch things before they get too long.
rake fights are sweet. Quaker fights of any kind are lame.
I agree that Quaker fights suck. They try and be all creative by adding buckles to their helmets just to draw attention to themselves and so it gives people that normally wouldn't care something to talk about.
Someone had to try and 1-up Boise and their smurf turf.
"you're looking live at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds, where this man - Jacob Yoder and his trusty fighting iron from True Value will engage in mortal combat with this man - Wilhelm Bontrager, a plucky and up and coming young Amish man who some say swings the handle better than anyone since the legendary Amos Hostetler"
No, nevermind. She'd fuck that up too.
Because this is pretty painful. Do all female announcers sound like this?
Is it that one chick who does softball games on ESPN? Her voice is pretty hard to listen to, no matter the sport.
If LT covers tonight, I think I'm going to have to go to their game when they host Nevada.
College football on a Tuesday? I guess I won't do my homework tonight.
The game's pretty close right now. Let's play a game:
What would you do right now to see Boise State lose?
I would get nude and attempt to scale the Washington Monument.
Boise loses and MSU moves up the rankings with a win this weekend. I'm not interested in that. But I would shave my balls for MSU to lose.
I wish the LT QB would at least throw the ball instead of taking all these sacks.
Liking that defensive line for LT. That blown up flea flicker was awesome.
Trick Play FAIL
Both teams trying to get tricking and ending up failing.
I sort of get the impression ESPN might have messed up their planting of the mics around the audience. On several plays, it actually sounds like there are only 35,000 people there or so.
Is there anything more annoying than watching a team with blue uniforms on a blue field? I am silently hoping boise gets some BCS respect so they can shitcan the blue turf.
I don't think that would encourage them to drop the blue turf at all. Only way it goes is by NCAA mandate. It's a "cultural" issue for them.
Yeah, for good or for bad, that has been identified with their team for nearly 25 years. That would be like someone telling us that we should get rid of the wings on our helmets.
I'm shocked more teams haven't adopted the "color field" idea. It is clearly an advantage for BSU, so why wouldn't East Carolina go with the all purple field? Rutgers would look stunning with an all red field.
I think that is overrated. Does MSU get an advantage from having green jerseys? There are lots of teams that wear green, but nobody worries about it.
Please, no. ESPN did a little thing on the blue turf and brought up johnnys-come-lately Eastern Washington, who have red'd themselves in a similar fashion.
Welp... there goes any hope of this game being competitive...
LT can come back. Keep the faith.
That better be a touchback. Over the goal line!
Smurf Turf always makes me wonder why I spent all that money on a HD setup. My retinas are burning.
It's like looking at the sun. You are drawn to it to see what its all about, but you can't look for more than a few seconds.
Is it weird that I don't even consider this special anymore?
LT seems to be gashing them on the ground this drive. Just tuned in. Have they been successful on the ground this game?
EDIT: of course as I say this, they stall out.
Well their QB can't scramble for shit it looks like. I'd think if he headed for the far sideline and hit the gas he'd have converted that with no problems.
Yeah it looked like he juked himself out on that play then fell over in confusion.
Horrible PI call! He turned around and made the tip. Come on.
That looked like a pretty good defensive play to me...
Is that potato in a cape(?) their mascot?!
I'm so torn about Boise State. I respect them as a team and think they're very talented, but the WAC is just God awful. They need to go independent or join a AQ conference. Big 12... get on it.
I was under the impression that BSU probably couldn't get into the Big12 if they tried. Academics, demographics, lack of any other quality sports programs, small market, etc. I personally thought the Pac10 would've been a better fit for them, but I don't know how much traction they'd get there, either. Anyway, I don't care how good people keep saying they are, they have to play a real big boy schedule, and forget about home and homes; they should go anywhere, and do whatever the hell they have to do to play big teams.
The big boys want nothing to do with them. I think they're getting shafted, because they can't play "a real big boy schedule" if no one will schedule them.
Oh my God. That woman announcer should just not talk. Ever. I don't know who she is, but for the love of football and all other things sacred, stop.
Sounds just like Pam Ward! I think i'm sexist because I can't think of any women commentators that I'm okay with.
Certainly not commentators. Now I can tolerate a few sideline reporters - Suze Kolber and Erin Andrews to name two.
Would Linda Cohn be considered a commentator? I've always thought she does a great job with whoever she's paired up with...
But she's about the only one.
I've thought she has done well (generally) in the past too. I don't know if she has ever been "in the booth" as a commentator though. I just remember her from SportsCenter.
Fumbled KO, I'll take it.
Hopefully a miracle happens and Boise loses.
I can't see Boise losing this game, but if they do, do you think they would be dropped out of the polls? I doubt they would, but with the weak schedule they play, having one loss would seem worse (to me) then having two losses to say, MSU and Iowa, for example. Maybe similar to Michigan getting dropped out of the polls from #3 after losing to an App State team that is probably on par or better than LT.
Teams apparently have forgetten that you're allowed to kick the ball.
Shhh. Don't remind Rich Rod.
Oh Louisiana Tech, why do you toy with my heart?
And just ripped it out with that fumble.
Yep. This game went from "Whoa, can they pull off the upset?" to "Yikes, this is getting ugly" real quick.
It's that the WAC sucks even more than I previously thought.
I can't help but think that if this year's Michigan played in the WAC, they would be able to get "up" for one game a year then run the table through the conference schedule.
EDIT: Replacing Boise of course.
could watch this BSU team and think "this is a top 2 team." Denard would drop 90 points on this La Tech team. BSU defense has also dropped at least 6 interceptions.
That's also why I feel like Kellen Moore shouldn't be considered a legit candidate for the Heisman trophy. Could he be the best player in college football? Sure. But playing 9 games against "La Tech's" isn't going to convince me.
Maybe get an invite out of respect for what he's done, but a scrub conference superstar can't and won't win. Denard would easily, EASILY go 2500/2500 in the WAC. Conference is a fucking joke.
it seems they're playing borderline D-IAA teams every week.
I got the over on Boise State-LaTech! It always comes down to the wire, doesn't it?
In BSU's defense, LT had nothing to lose, and was throwing everything but the kitchen sink at them (onsides kick, multiple statue of liberties, RB tosses, etc.), and nearly every series was treated as being 4 down territory. It can be hard to play a deperate team with nothing to lose.
