So I know there are a lot of fans of The Wire here, I figured I'd give this a mention for those of you who, like me, hadn't previously heard of this show. I apologize if I was the only one out of the loop about this show, but I hadn't heard of it until yesterday and now I'm really glad I did.
It's a new show that started on HBO last week from David Simon, the creator of The Wire, and returns the actors that played Bunk and Freamon, coincidentally my favorite two characters from The Wire. In addition, it's got some bigger name talent in John Goodman and Steve Zahn, while I know one of my favorite parts of The Wire was the largely unknown cast, these two fit in very well with the rest of the cast and show, especially Goodman.
Anyways, it's similar to The Wire in structure (no real main character, deeply personal look at a city from the point of view of its inhabitants), except this time it's set in post-Katrina New Orleans and focuses largely on Musicians instead of Law Enforcement. The first two episodes have me hooked, and I highly recommend it to any fans of The Wire, or anyone in general. If anything just check it out for the amazing music that's been in each episode so far.
