OT: Trade Deadline

Submitted by icefins26 on

Looks like the White Sox are shopping Daniel Hudson to the Diamondbacks for Edwin Jackson -- but may turn Jackson around and send him to the Nationals for Dunn.  Kenny Williams is a magician.

Dodgers after Lilly and Theriot.

Twins bulk up their bullpen with Capps.

If the White Sox turn Jackson into Dunn somehow, Kenny Williams is the fucking man. He's already my favorite GM in the game and this would only reaffirm my love for him.

I am a White Sox fan and we are extremely fortunate to have Kenny Williams on our side.  He is the Kenny Holland of MLB.  He doesn't take shit from anyone and if he wants something, he gets it.

This actually has been one of the slower trade deadlines in recent years. The White Sox  are going to make a move. Minnesota improved its bullpen with Matt Capps, I would almost expect than for the Sox than to land Dunn. If your interested in the baseball trade deadline I have a full team run down in my blog. http://diehardsport.blogspot.com/2010/07/season-of-pitchertrade-deadline-team.html

Now it sounds like the Yankees are in the running for Dunn.  Things are really starting to heat up -- cat and mouse game is really coming to an end quickly.

Yeah I like how we sit back and make a big splash by landing Jhonny Peralta.  What's the use of getting Peralta if you aren't going to do anything else?

Well, icefins, Kenny Williams does take shit from someone: Ozzie Guillen.

Matter of fact, I think everyone in Chicago takes shit from Guillen, but that's neither here nor there.

As for Raburn, throw in a Dodger Dog and we've got a deal.

July 31 isn't really the trade deadline.  It's just the deadline to trade guys without putting them on waivers first.  That may sound like a key distinction but it actually isn't. I've read that GMs will routinely put their entire roster on waivers over the course of a season, even guys they have no intention of ever trading.  Baseball rules are weird.  There will be more trades made next month.

The deadline that actually matters is August 31.  Anyone acquired after that date is ineligible for postseason play.

I think the only trade they are going to make is for Pirates starting left handed pitcher Paul Maholm.

It probably won't cost them a whole lot (maybe a second-tier prospect or two - like Enrique Gonzalez and Casper Wells).

Sigh, the two players that I hoped would be franchise players, playing their whole career in Houston, have both left in the last 3 days. This is depressing to no end. I've now made it through two eras of Houston stars in the Bagwell/Biggio and Berkman/Oswalt. Here's hoping Pence/Wandy works out well for me.
