I can tear the cover off the ball once or twice every four shots. On a golf course, that's terrible. You pay for those 2-3 bad shots. At Top Golf, I just forget about that 75 yard slice, tee up another ball and let 'er rip. When I finally do connect, I feel like a hero and it's like that last bad shot(s) never happened. Of course the beer helps with that.

Top Golf is also like bowling. There's that point along the intoxification curve where you get a sudden boost in performance. Of course it's nearly impossible to maintain that level and in general you quickly fall down the back side of that curve and things get ugly...

I am interested to see where it is going to be located.  That Brown Rd./Baldwin Rd. corridor is filled to the absolute brim.

This never really interested me. I guess this caters to people who aren't really serious about golf. Most people just use it as an excuse to get drunk...which I can do on a regular golf course.

I don't think this is really for serious golfers.  It is probably a cool mix of things for a night out, but the only reason I go to the range is to work on my game and that would not happen when I was drunk and eating wings.

It's alright. You can play different games and eat and drink with people, plus I swear they do something to make the balls fly straight as I hit with more accuracy at TG than on any course I have played.

I don't think it has much value beyond a couple plays though. It gets kind of boring and because it is so expensive, it's better for corporate outings than casual play.

Maybe not for serious golfers, but I imagine (I have never been) it is a good in between activity for people who are serious golfers and their not so serious golfer friends. For instance, my girlfriend has recently started to learn how to golf, she needs a lot of swings, but grows weary of the range because it simply isn't that fun. This would be a good activity for the two of us to do together while still trying to have her get better as there is a game aspect.

If your goal is to have a good time and a night out I think it would be perfect for that, but if her goal is to improve at the game it could have the opposite effect and possibly alienate her from wanting to play actual golf.  I don't know much about Top Golf, but it kind of sounds like it would be the equivalent of getting super good at Tiger Woods Golf on X-box and then wondering why it doesn't happen on the course.

It used to be a nice little quiet town with lakes and trails. That area is now unrecognizable and congested as hell. I guess it's the price of progress.

I played Top Golf in Charlotte, NC 2 days ago and loved it.   I went with a group and after everyone else got tired, I just kept hitting balls.  I think I hit about 400 balls lol.

Top Golf in Charlottte was crazy busy.  Its like a club with multiple bars etc.  Most people seemed to be there to drink and meet girls.

Los Angeles, where I live, desperately needs a Top Golf.  There is only one in CA which is up in NoCal.

Been to the TopGolf in D.C. (Alexandria) and going to the one in Austin in 3 weeks. I cant wait, I will say though that you will never spend $100 so fast if you're playing, eating and drinking.

The "Alexandria" location is a few miles south of me & the one I've been to. I agree it does not cater to the hardcore golfer. I pretty much only golf when corporate events pop up. Going to Top Golf the week before is the perfect way to get ready for the event without having to waste an entire evening on just golf. ;)

Tampa has one and I went for the first time on Father's Day (bad idea for anyone considering future trips).  I've been back twice since.  It's a great time even if you are a serious golfer.

Have any of you played Golfstream at the MGM in Vegas?  Kind of like Top Golf but with putting.  A little more high-paced so makes for great spectating/ imbibing.  Pretty fun - I'd imagine more of those will start popping up given the popularity of TG.

Went to the one here in California.  Honestly I expected it to be more fun.  It was busy though.

There is one in Schaumburg (or Arlington Heights) in the Chicago suburbs. It is overpriced but a fun night out. Probably more fun for people who actually golf.

Dude. I just went to one of these recently and had an absolute blast. I'm not even a golfer. You guys are in for some fun. If you guys are in charge of these things - do this for one of your company functions.
