OT- TN Football gives our Participation Trophies

Our favorite SEC rival has given out “Life Champions” rings, since they didn’t actually win an SEC championship.  Here are a couple of tweets, including Butch Jones’ updated Wiki page"

that is tantamount to what Spurrier did in mid-season. Hell, any coach from any school in the nation can stand up and say what he said, and in many cases they would be able to make a stronger case. But they wouldn't do that because that would be done with or without them. He was hired to bring TN football back to a level of consistently good to great football sans the ebbs and flows predating his tenure. He has faled to do so. If he believes this will assuage the boosters or the TN fan base, he is proving he knows even less about people than he does the game he was hired to coach at the highlest level in the nation.

The rings are ridiculous. But all the gaudy championship rings are kind of ridiculous.
As far as Tennessee, there a better team than Florida. Florida didn't have to play anybody in the SEC in Tennessee beat them. Conference championship games should be determined by the record in your division first and that the entire conference. And that way you're not screwed by having to play Alabama if no one else had to play them.or in Wisconsin's case they had to play both Michigan and Ohio State.

Many of my friends are UT fans. I try to tell them that Butch Jones is not going to take them to where they want to be, but they are in denial. I also tried to warn them about Debord, which they blew off, until this season and now they are calling for his head. Butch Jones is their version of Hoke and Dooley was their version of RR.

That's not really any different than how it's been since the introduction of any type of mass media, and in many ways I'd argue it's better now that it was before. At least now there is a plausible opportunity to check for yourself, whereas just 20 years or so ago that really wasn't the case at all. If the TV news or newspaper said it was true, how were you going to reasonably check that? Now at least you CAN check.
