OT Tips for NCAA10 Football

Submitted by desmondcharles on

I play against this guy online all the time and he constantly chews clock (plays with Tenn) and runs the ball down my throat the whole game. I'll stack the box to stop it and he'll still keep doing it. I'll stop him for 2 or 3 plays in a row and then he'll hit me with his outside reciever on a slant. Any advice on getting him out of running the whole game or stopping him from that slant pass? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

I can't wait to play as Michigan in NCAA '11 with the new zone blocking logic and actual reads on the read option. Apparently the players will no-huddle and look to the sideline for signs, too.

That said, the Michigan playbook in '10 is not very potent. Runs out of the shotgun are tough to get going, and there isn't a large variety of deep passing.

I suggest either Auburn's playbook or Mississippi State's. Mississippi State's is all out of the shotgun, but has some nice wildcat plays (Minor is a beast in '10). Auburn has some better "run it up the gut" formations and an excellent selection of spread plays. Including all the great wildcat stuff.

best defense = good offense

Set your defensive line to "Aggressive". Jump out to a quick lead, put him in a hole so he has to throw more often.

Don't let him dictate the pace of the game.

To stop the slant route you have to be in zone coverge. Its almost impossible to stop in man coverage with a good receiever.

I'm not familar with Tenessesse's roster, but my guess is they have a huge o-line and a solid rb. Just play against him with a team with good defense size (height/weight). If your playing him with Michigan, which is kinda smallish on defense right now, that my be the problem.

do you use the run slide???  It tells your DL which way you think he's going to run?

on third down switch to the 3-3-5 in man..if you have your db's go for big hits it helps too..

Man, I love the slant route.  It's pretty cheap in NCAA10, and it results in a pick usually if they are in zone, but if it's man coverage, it works like 90% of the time.

Yeah, I use that strategy too. Personally, getting down by two touchdowns takes me out of my comfort zone and I have to adapt by throwing it more often (something that Tennessee cannot do). Use press coverage on the WR's, key pass, whatever on third or fourth-and-long. Also, take your time on offense too.

If it's working why would he run anything else? If we are driving up and down the field next year against OSU using 2 plays do you want RR to switch to something else?

Find this guy, recruit a bunch of neighborhood kids to play a game of football, make him play wide receiver, and when he runs that slant shoot him dead like Indiana Jones versus sword wielding giants.

Works everytime.

Usually I just go to one of those nickel packages and play cover 2 or cover 3 all day. I just switch my defense to show blitz and it stops the run pretty good. And when he tries to do the slant you could defend it since your in a good zone defense. I usually never blitz because then everyone just picks you apart. Maybe once in a great while I bring everyone when he's not expecting it and I get a sack. But if you just stay in zone you should stop the passing game, I usually get at least 2 picks every game.

Run quarters . Do a run commet middle when you do this the CB will push down on the WR so the will be under the WR so if the kid still throws to the WR your CB will pick it . also try a zone . where your SS plays closer to the line and just control him and try and take away that play . Quarters also will work against the run if he if running 24- 7 just go into a show blitz, commit middle .. this usually works every time . I'm ranks 405 online so what i'm saying actually works i'm not just throwin this out . i do it all the time . it's a little cheese that it works as well as it does but then again so is going for it on 4th down and running slant all the time .

People like you, who run quarters, show blitz, and commit middle completely bastardize the game of football. That is in NO WAY legitimate.

No, I'm not "ranks 405 online," but I have a sense of fucking decency and respect for football; I suppose that's a fair tradeoff.

Why do you even play that game if you're not simulating actual football?

If the guy is running cheese the whole game, why isn't it appropriate to run a cheese defense to stop him?  I don't ever run that garbage, but if there's a guy running the ol' tennessee 4 minute drive offense, I don't see the problem in countering it with the same kind of crap.

wow what hatred..the game is so pass happy you have to play quarters..if you play in the 4-3 you cant cover the TE's..theres a way to beat everything in that game though..if  guys are in quarters zone you throw screen passes..if guys are in quarters man you throw to the rb's in the flat..dont hate..

Actually I am in a SIM leauge .. because i don't actaully like to play like that .. i have not played a ranked game online in over 4 months because that is the only thing people in the top 500 do is cheese all day and like you said what is the point .. but the kid asked how do you stop it and i gave him the only real way you can stop it .. because all your little zones and use the lb are cute but if the kid knows how to play good they will not work at all .. And I bet you don't simulate a real game either because you play like you would in real life not like how the real team would like i do in my sim leauge .. Your point of NO WAY legitiamte all i have to say to that is niether is the slant on 4th down every drive ..

I play the game because i love football, enjoy video games, and love beating people that like to talk trash.

Its hated by all and known by most...go into a quarters defense then use audible to press coverage anf then do the run blitz ... its a pain to play against ..scores will be low

Play zone, switch to a LB, then just sit right where he throws it every time. Easy pick

My friend does it against me all the time, therefore shutting down my slant game completely

Take a OLB who's assigned to blitz and drop him into the zone where the quick slant will be coming and try to break it up yourself. If he's running, blitz with him. If he constantly goes to the same receiver, try doubling and pressing him before the snap. As far as stopping the run goes, try to figure out which way (strongside/weakside) he goes out of certain formations- identify his favorite plays. Add blitzers or bodies to the box as necessary. If you're always playing the same guy and team, try to get his tendencies and favorite plays down cold. Play against them in practice mode and experiment with different defenses.

RROD?  who do you play with?  at first i tried playing with other teams, but couldnt take not playing with the wolverines..i played alot with floridas O and used DROB at QB but theres too much PA id their playbook.  back to using michigans playbokk but still using drob.  i dont know about you but the most frustrating thing in the world for me is him getting caught from behind by a dlineman.

I would love to see a DL catch Drob from behind in real life. I usually start Drob b/c I like to run my QB. From the Shotgun ...If the DE gets pushed out I run inside. If he crashes inside I bounce the play outside trying to get the CB or OLD to commit to stoping DRob and then I throw the ball to Carlos in the flat for a big gain. Make sure you have a clear path because some people know how the jump the pass and it's a pick 6.
