OT: Tim Tebow Breaks Combine Records For QB Vertical Jump
http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/18958/getting-up-assessing-…
well... actually he tied the record, but I'm still impressed. While i don't think it says anything about his ability to play QB at the next level, i think it definitively debunks the myth that...
Any thoughts?
I think that this thread will be filled with anti-Tebow sentiments.

Did he touch heaven?
to bad he's a fullback?
yeah, who cares? I am sure Peyton Manning's and Tom Brady's vertical jump sucks to high heaven.
Being a QB is about things other than pure athleticism. Michael Vick may be the best athlete at QB ever. Joe Montana was slow and had a weak arm. Which one would you pick?
But... they didn't have the goal-line, fadeaway jump pass...
SSIA
he'll be giddy thinking of tebow utilizing that great vertical for a jump pass near the end zone.
Maybe they should test him out as a linebacker, he might do well there.
Matt Leinart posted a 37"? That's pretty impressive too.
He is not a Michigan player or our QB. The guy gets more praise than any other college player I have seen in 15 years.... He is good player and may be a good NFL QB or may be a bust who knows.
Living in Florida I can't stand the guy or his fan base and all I know is Timmy "Jorts" Tebow is 0-1 vs Michigan!
Go Blue!
It has been typically crappy Monday and seeing this nugget of info on Tebow makes it that much crappier.
I just can't be happy for that guy.
fastest 40 time......on water.
According to these fans he's not about to break any records on the wunderlich test ... unless it's the record that belongs to Vince Young
I think you might have misunderstood this picture. It was taken at Florida State, and as such, it was probably meant more in the manner of "he'd have the highest score at our school now that Myron Rolle is gone".
Wasn't he "Homeschooled"? I mean, did we expect his mother to teach him an actual high school curriculum by herself?
was homeschooled and got a 4 on AP Chem her freshman year, no teacher. She's in the top 1% of her class now at U-M.
That forced me to respect homeschooling. The stay-at-home parent typically doesn't lecture like a public school teacher (although certainly some people do so). The parent facilitates child exploration and understanding. Most homeschoolers I know became extremely self-motivated and independent learners and are extremely successful in college.
And by successful I assume you mean GPA only.
Self motivated and independent is codeword for "socially awkward" by the way.
You may want to try learning ANYTHING about what you're talking about. I know MANY homeschooled children, and we homeschool, and typically, homeschooled kids are ahead of their public or private school counterparts. Many homeschoolers I know are doing college courses at 16-17 (10th-11th grade). The kinds of trivial math, writing, and other knowledge tested on the current SATs are not all that challenging.
Of course, different homeschool kids have different experiences (obviously). As do kids in different public schools.
Rob
Ok.
Our experiences are obviously different. The many homeschooled kids I knew growing up were not perfect child prodigies being raised by rocket scientist parents. I'll leave it at that.
Homeschooling is a legitimate academic pursuit, but if kids are mainstreamed after 8th grade, they often have troubles with socialization.
Homeschooled kids get a bad rap because they often come off "awkwardly" in social environments, but when it comes to book smarts, they're largely ahead of the curve.

I think you misspelled "engineers" as "homeschooled kids".
I think he was able to jump so high because of his cleverly hidden angel wings.
Thanks for that, I laughed out loud when I read it. That may not be the best response, but it was really funny for some reason.
I just keep picturing Mel Kiper all of a sudden talking about his "great length."
Since he's going to be a FB/H-Back/TE at the next level, this athleticism might help make the transition a bit easier. But unless backup NFL players are suddenly in vogue, I like to think there are more interesting stories at the combine than Tebow.
without having to wait for the end to come first.
I think he is the most hyped back up quarterback to be prospect I have ever seen. My favorite Tim Tebow memory was when Jamar Adams blasted him in the Capital One Bowl.
It's pretty easy to "blast" somebody when he's in mid-air.
Though some people are way too eager to jump on the Tebow-hate bandwagon, I think it's also interesting how quick you always are to defend him, Magnus. It's a pretty consistent theme in just about every Tebow-related thread. Care to explain?
It's not so much Tebow that I'm defending but the hypocrisy of the world/internet/MGoBoard that I'm attacking.
If Tebow played for Michigan, we would LOVE him. Absolutely, 100% adore him.
If any one of us had Tebow for a son, we would be absolutely, 100% proud to have him as part of the family. We would be in awe of how good of a person/competitor he is.
But because the media have chosen to overexpose him, people "hate" him and want him to fail. People get tired of seeing a guy's face in magazines, on TV, etc., and they just eventually decide, "I'm tired of people taking pictures of this guy, so I HATE HIM WITH A PASSION."
It's ridiculous and hypocritical.
Magnus I think you make some very good points that I am inclined to agree with. However lets not forget that others have there own similar issue they are more responsible for. Jimmy Clausen brought much of his desparity upon himself showing up day 1 in a limo and limp wristing his ring for the press. Charlie did not help any making sure that any and all knew his recruits were preferred over those of Willingham's and creating a locker room mess but Jimmy has been PLENTY of the problem on his own. More then one person on campus wanted to smack Jimmy in the face. Tebow, Claussen, Mallet...just comes with the territory-have to handle it. Tebow IMO handeled it well.
If he played for Notre Dame we all could have called him "Touchdown Jesus". He played for FL. I live in FL. He is ridiculously overexposed because of religion, which makes some like him, and some hate him. Frankly, I'm just a little sick of talking about him haha...
I'm somewhat sick of talking about him, too. I think it's weird that people post about 2 threads a day on Tebow, but it's the nature of the beast, I guess. And the fact that he (at least briefly) considered attending Michigan might make some UofM fans more interested in him.
I just think the backlash is aimed at the wrong person (Tebow) rather than at the people/outlets who overexpose him (ESPN, SI, posters on this board, etc.).
He defends a lot of people from all types of stupid that oozes from many sources on this tube, albeit rudely, but he doesn't just defend Tebow.
That hit at the :29 second mark is really tempting me to go watch that game again.
