The interview looks like it might be a little bland when it finally airs, but there is one statement here that is probably giving David Stern chest pains right now:
"I knew there were certain relationships that existed between referees and players, referees and coaches and referees and owners that influence the point spreads in games,"
I have believed this for about thirty years now, so it is "old news" to me, but nobody connected on this level has ever said this in public in this way. The NBA may have a hard time convincing the public that they aren't the WWE if they aren't careful here.
I am waiting for Stern to try and get an injunction to prevent the airing of the interview. Hopefully, he is not successful. I would love to see officiating become a lot more transparent than it currently is in all sports. This could be a start.
