OT: Tigers vs Pirates, Verlander deals with Pirates, Leyland deals with boggled mind
Jimmy L can't comprehend his Tiger squad.

"The only thing that has been consistent for this team is the inconsistency, and that's mind-boggling to me," manager Jim Leyland said. "We just aren't putting together the combinations that we need to win."
Damn Verlander looks to have his good stuff this evening, one walk nonwithstanding.
Might have to bring in Dave Winfield to deal with annoying Seagulls
Verlander, Cabrera and Fielder.... Oh My!!! This promises to be a memorable game
Thanks, I thought I had died and gone to Hell to spend an eternity posting by myself on Mgoblog.
Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal.
Calvin Johnson showed late movement on his pre game first pitch. Jim Price had to be impressed
And Calvin was putting the ball in the seats in BP, I wonder if he can play Second
Have you taken a look at the Pirates lineup. Their 7-9 hitters are batting ,163, .161 and .190. They only have 2 players with an OBP over .300.
That's okay. The A's sent TWO lineups to the plate against the Tigers that had 5 guys hitting under .200. And split those two games with us.
Glad I missed that. Living in Cleveland I do not get all the games. Should get MLBTV.
And they have the same record as the Tigers because of good pitching.
Just goes to show you, the AL is much tougher
Watching Verlander pitch when he's on always makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.
Uh-oh. Here we go again with Verlander....
Yeah he does this at least once a year in threads I start when he's pitching. I should be on the payroll
My brain totally read the title as "...Verlander dealt to Pirates..."
This is fun. Really fun.
I see you, Don.
JV got away with two hanging breaking balls that inning
I just woke up from a cat nap to find this! I guess my gin and tonic will be taken in celebration tonight.

at least it wasn't his first walk.
Buckle Up
The later into the game it gets he really unloads. Fastball are all 99 or faster and his breaking stuff is just not fair.
At its best, Verlander's breaking ball is one of the best pitches ever thrown in major league history. Walter Johnson's fastball, Phil Niekro's knuckleball, Gaylord Perry's spitball, Mariano Rivera's cutter, Justin Verlander's curve.
I have never seen what I hope will happen tonight. Very exciting.
What is that design in the outfield grass? Is it two giant home plates?

Kate Upton still thinks Justin Verlander isn't worthy.
Tigers offense erupting today
I didn't think I would like Prince Fielder as much as I do. He is fun to watch. I love when he is running full throttle
I can't imagine what damage would ensue if either Cabrera or Fielder had to bury the catcher to score a run.
Y'know, let's be honest: Prince Fielder might be one of the fastest runners in the majors, pound for pound. He moves really well for a guy his size. And did anyone catch him sprinting out that routine grounder to second and almost beating it? I appreciate seeing that kind of thing.
I'm cool with that as long as he doesn't pull something trying to beat a play out.
Also in the 8 run 6th against the Sox the other day, Prince hustled out a Double after Cabrera's home run and I thought damn these guys still think they are going to win this game.
VErlander DEALING
He looks like he knows he's on the doorstep now. Taking his already filthy pitching to another level.
Jesus Christ.
I don't think he's tiring
Yes....everything is going according to plan....
Justin makes each outing electric somehow.
That was absolutely filthy.
Striking out the side with 100 MPH in the 8th inning.
My word.
Harrison has 2 of the 3 balls that have made it out of the Infield. C'mon JV
Is anyone else having a hard time finding a stream of the game on 97.1 online? I keep getting sports talk.
