"The only thing that has been consistent for this team is the inconsistency, and that's mind-boggling to me," manager Jim Leyland said. "We just aren't putting together the combinations that we need to win."

Will there ever be a situation where having Verlander pitch isn't a "must-win"? It seems that a lot of last year and quite a bit of this year, he goes on the mound with the team in a slide

Calvin Johnson showed late movement on his pre game first pitch. Jim Price had to be impressed

And Calvin was putting the ball in the seats in BP, I wonder if he can play Second

Have you taken a look at the Pirates lineup.  Their 7-9 hitters are batting ,163, .161 and .190.  They only have 2 players with an OBP over .300.

I just woke up from a cat nap to find this!  I guess my gin and tonic will be taken in celebration tonight.

Nights like this I'm thankful we have cable at the cabin. It's absolutely gorgeous on the lake, but here I am inside watching the game.

Y'know, let's be honest: Prince Fielder might be one of the fastest runners in the majors, pound for pound.  He moves really well for a guy his size.  And did anyone catch him sprinting out that routine grounder to second and almost beating it?  I appreciate seeing that kind of thing.
