OT- Tigers vs Cubs 6-14-12 Battle for relevancy

Submitted by WMUgoblue on
1-0 Tigers top of the 2nd, AJ with a leadoff double and Prince brought him home. Make that 2-0 courtesy of Raburn, hopefully JV does his thing and we can walk away with a 4-2 road trip.

They both loose. seriously, though: I am shocked that the tigers are this bad. They aren't one pitcher away; they need Fister to come back, Porcello to not suck, and probably two starters.

I think the better option would be to get some strikeout pitchers, because groundball pitchers are not going to get the infield help they need with our crew.  That being said, we also need a competent 2nd baseman and also a better DH to hold us over while we wait for V-Mart's return, because if I'm not mistaken, our DHs' combined OPS is the lowest the league.

Just wasn't sure if you were one of those guys that looks at Granderson's stats at Yankee Stadium and thinks that's what we're missing. Grandy is a good player, but I know alot of fans that overrate him based on what he's done since being traded. And I'd rather have you overvalue Grandy than Inge....at least Grandy has some true value.

It's clear that the short right-field porch has inflated Grandy's stats but he was also a 20+ HR guy during most of his time in Detroit, he just seems like more of an overall power hitter than AJ, but Jackson could easily become a 15+ HR guy, he's on his way to doing that this year; and there is no denying that Jackson is the far superior defender, he makes playing CF at CoPa look easy with the routes he takes. It's a shame he didn't win the gold glove last year, but he won the more prestigous Fielding Bible award so at least he got the recognition he deserved.

Damn AJ is hot with a 2 run shot.

Smart call by Lamont not waving Kelly home for an attempt at an inside the park home run, although I would have loved to see him wave Kelly home.
