who fails upward better: Whitlock, Kiffin, or Brandon?
OT- Tigers vs Cubs 6-14-12 Battle for relevancy
Good start so far!! It is so nice to have AJ back!
They both loose. seriously, though: I am shocked that the tigers are this bad. They aren't one pitcher away; they need Fister to come back, Porcello to not suck, and probably two starters.
I think the better option would be to get some strikeout pitchers, because groundball pitchers are not going to get the infield help they need with our crew. That being said, we also need a competent 2nd baseman and also a better DH to hold us over while we wait for V-Mart's return, because if I'm not mistaken, our DHs' combined OPS is the lowest the league.
I guess the joke is the Tigers went to a bar and hired 3 bouncers to play on the infield.
Maybe the Tigers are battling for relevancy. My Cubs are battling to win more than 62 this year.
Time to get QB into the game and manufacture a run. If Young gets on base at any time. QB should pinch run.
Delmon! I knew not you could throw like that.
Huge 2 out single by AJ to give the Tigers the lead. Verlander appears to be rolling now, it's going to be tough for the Cubbies.
I can't believe how good AJ has been, I miss Granderson and all but AJ is the far superior defender and his bat is really coming around. A rare trade that has worked for every team so far.
Why do you miss Granderson? I only miss him because he is a nice guy. Not for his baseball ability.
He was a great community guy, and more of an overall power hitter, I guess I have an irrational love for the guy like some do for Inge. But yes, I think overall Austin Jackson is superior player, especially for Comerica.
Just wasn't sure if you were one of those guys that looks at Granderson's stats at Yankee Stadium and thinks that's what we're missing. Grandy is a good player, but I know alot of fans that overrate him based on what he's done since being traded. And I'd rather have you overvalue Grandy than Inge....at least Grandy has some true value.
It's clear that the short right-field porch has inflated Grandy's stats but he was also a 20+ HR guy during most of his time in Detroit, he just seems like more of an overall power hitter than AJ, but Jackson could easily become a 15+ HR guy, he's on his way to doing that this year; and there is no denying that Jackson is the far superior defender, he makes playing CF at CoPa look easy with the routes he takes. It's a shame he didn't win the gold glove last year, but he won the more prestigous Fielding Bible award so at least he got the recognition he deserved.
I agree with everything you said. The process by which the GG is determined is ridiculous. I know Brooks Robinson was a damned good fielder....but 20 (or whatever it was) consecutive GGs?
Brooks Robinson was beyond spectacular at 3B. There was nobody even close to matching his glove work. Easily best fielding 3rd basemen I've ever seen.
When hasn't it been tough for us?
/2015 is the year!
Yeah Rod Allen standing in front of a display of Turf Builder and he has no clue on how to fix his lawn. Country Dumb commercial
With 103 pitches under his belt, does Verlander start the ninth?
And the answer is no.
That old man is going to regret taking JV out.
I bet you posted this just before the AJ 2 run jack.
Cabrera needs to teach Jimmy the celebration routine the Tigers have adopted.
Haha, yeah. Every time Valverde goes to the mound with less than a 2 run cushion my stomach churns.
Damn AJ is hot with a 2 run shot.
Smart call by Lamont not waving Kelly home for an attempt at an inside the park home run, although I would have loved to see him wave Kelly home.
Tigers need to have a good weekend. Indians lost and sox losing today. Chance to make up ground and get momentum going
