was pretty awesome in the pen last year.  I was skeptical of taking him out of that role.  Im guessing it was a budgetary move to bring in Victor, which was obviously a good signing so far.

I appreciate Ilitch being open with his checkbook, but just a little more money to a FA or what I wanted, which was put it into the draft budget (to go above slot more often). Either couldve helped immensely

Leyland's insistance on playing Raburn and keeping Coke in the starting rotation is rediculous.  Coke hasn't won a game since mid April!  They way he was shelled in this game I would hope somehow Leyland wakes up and throws anyone else with a pulse in the 5 spot in the rotation.

On another note,  wouldn't it be amazing if the Tigers traded for Jose Reyes?  That guy is just what the Tigers are missing in the lineup.  He is a run-producing machine.

Tigers doesn't have much in the farm system to trade for Reyes.  Jacob Turner would have to be included in the package.

Phil Coke actually has the 2nd best ERA out of the starting pitchers.  Taking account into FIP, his was the 2nd best out of the starting pitchers.  His WAR is 1.1 which is excellent for a #5 starter.  He's just unlucky in terms of win-loss record.  He has done his job as a #5 pitcher which is eat up innings and be competent as a SP.

Shouldve tried to do it last year if they were thinking of him.

His trade value in the midst of a monster bounceback season is ridiculous now (Teams with concern over losing him as a rental would just have to negotiate a sign and trade or extend and trade).

How the hell did Coke get into Detroit's rotation? He was an ok reliever here with the Yanks. He never showed anything that made you think he should be a starter.

Because the Tigers were to moronic to have spent that $8 million on a free-agent bullpen signee and moving Coke to the starting position instead of using that $8 million on a proven starter and keeping Coke in the bullpen where he was productive last year.

Cabrera's bomb of a HR seemed so effortless.

Raburn's inability to field the grounder to 2nd reinforces in my mind our need to acquire another solid every day infielder. Raburn just is not getting it done both in the infield and outfield.

What is up with all of these 2 out runs against the Tiger's?

Talk about a frustrating game to watch. Each time we score a couple runs, our pitching is giving it right back. Pull it together boys!

is on pace for between 10.6 and 10.7 WAR, which if you exclude roiders like Bonds and Sosa, would be the 3rd highest of the modern era behind Pujols ('03) and ARod ('00).

The Tigers really have no other options than Coke though, it's really sad. Furbush can probably make a few spot starts but other than him they have nothing. Andy Oliver has struggled throwing strikes since he got demoted, he gave up 9 runs in 3 innings last night, only a trade can truely save the Tigers starting pitching.

Get at least a shot at starting a game for Coke.  I think he should at least get a go at it.  God knows it can't be much worse than Coke as of late.  He's done pretty well when Leyland has put him in for long relief, hopefully he could convert that to somewhat acceptable starting pitching.

Verlander is picthing tomorrow.  So hopefully we can stop the bleeding in the bullpen for at least one day.  If this game was preceding a game pitched by Penny or Porcello (or to a lesser extent Scherzer), we could really be hurting due to a lack of depth in the pen.  Hopefully Verlander can go at least 8 and give our relievers at least a bit of rest.  They need it after two straight 14+ run games.

rushed Porcello, and the kid has struggled big time. The Tigers don't have enough to get Reyes.  However, they might have enough to acquire, a decent middle of the rotation starter. Move Penny and Porcello down in the rotation, and send Coke back to the pen.

They can easily acquire an inning eater like a Ricky Nolasco, or a Clayton Richard (michigan), they wouldn't have to give up a whole lot in return either. But in my mind there are a few no tradeable players in our farm and that would be Turner, and Nick Castellanos

I am not saying we should cut him. South Warren would riot. Look @ his numbers, he's a first half player. He's under .200 now. So...What should we expect in the 2nd half of the season? Can Kelly play 3B? Can Inge shave his chin?

Forgetting all that, he's an excellent guy in the community.

The time is upon us...The annual all star free fall..Its the time of the year Jimmy smokes pulls out all the stops and shows why he's a sub .500 manager...Its like a bad dream you can't wake up from...I hope im wrong and the Tigers win the division but with the way Leyland manages the team, I wouldn't bet on it......Post all star collapse, "its like sex with Kobe, you can kick and scream all you want but its gonna happen" love that joke...All i know is if the Tigers finish the same way as last year and the year before and before and so on he has to be gone....And the fact that he wont change his starting rotation so JV can pitch in the all star game pisses me off even more ......So I can't be the only one who feels this way....So replacements ??? Any ideas? ?????
