OT: Tigers v. Indians - 9/16

Submitted by MGoBender on

Middle of the week and the Tigers are putting the division away, so I figured this would acceptably fall into the "Infrequent Pro Sports" allowance.

Tigers score 5(!!!) runs on 6 hits all with two outs to start the game.

Currently 7.5 ahead of the Indians in the Central.

Only 5.5 behind the Red Sox for second best AL record... if the Tigers keep hitting they have a chance to catch the Red Sox which would allow them to host Texas in the first round have home field advantage against the Sox in the first round.  Tigers have an opponents winning % of .456 remaining and the Sox have an opponents winning % of .500.  Not out of the question.

The home field advantage could be significant with the Sox' strong left-handed lineup.

I'll admit it, I was wrong about this team a few weeks ago when our lead slipped to 1.5 games.  The Tigers are peaking at the right time and it is real fun to watch.  We have a guy in Fister that is pitching like a legit #2 starter and between Scherzer and Porcello we have a decent third starter for the playoffs.  I only wish Bosch wasn't out for the season.  Delmon Young has been solid in his absence though.

No way they will play Texas in the first round. A division winner cannot play the wildcard in the first round if they're in the same division. Either way though, go Tiggers!

After the debacle of 163 games and a lost Divisional Title in 2009, I'm trying to stay even-keeled.  But after this weekend against the Sox followed up with yesterday's win and today's start, I actually believe the Tigers will get their first Divisional Title since 1987.

Porcello 62 pitches thru 6, maybe Leyland will let him finish this one out and give the pen a break. Pen prolly won't get much work tomorrow afternoon with Verlander taking the mound.

I can't believe its been over 4 years since we were at least 18 games over .500! Unreal baseball being play in D-Town right now. Nothing better than rolling into the postseason on a hot winning streak.

all the chicken little's who were SURE we would choke have gone. This team is 31-19 since the break. I can't wait for this weekend. Going to the Tigers game on Friday night (11th game of the year), and then heading to Ann Arbor right after. Then the Lions start Sunday. Exciting times right now, guys and gals.
