see the offense come alive. This has been a perplexing road trip to say the least, given how well the homestand went prior. What can you say about Cabby, he isclearly the best pure hitter in the game IMO, and still doesn't get the credit he deserves nationally. Personally I think  he is the AL MVP at the moment, though I suspect he will get overlooked.

Delmon and Boesch was due to the starter's splits against right and left handed hitters. They mentioned on the radio that lefties had hit over .300 against Cook this year. Neither one has had a good road trip (like most of the lineup). The bottom line to me is that the Tigers are going to need more out of Delmon, Boesch, Avila and Peralta if they want to win the division and have a reasonable chance to go deep in the playoffs. The AL is just stacked this year.

Lots of people wanted a right handed bat at the deadline but the Tigers still need a Loogy in the worst way, Phil Coke has been abysmal against both righties and lefties.

In general, Coke is fine in the role he is in now.........until something bad happens behind him. God forbid if there's an error, a blown double play, or something of that nature. After that, he has no ability to recover adjust or recover mentally, and before you know it, 4 runs are in. That's what killed him as a starter.

Needed a middle of the order type hitter at the deadline...I know the division is weak but I don't think they win it with this current roster....

need some guys (Boesch, Peralta, Avila, Delmon) to get going a little bit/ be more consistent.  There not asking anybody to do more than they are capable of, they just need to play at the level that they have demostrated in their careers. Not to mention the fact hat V-Mart could  be back for the last month of the season. I not sure why you don't think this team can win the division, when the same group of players won it by 15 games last season.

It has certainly been a head stratching roadtrip, but that is baseball. It is a funny game. My concern about this team is not about winning the division since I am still reasonably confident that they will. The concern is how stacked the American League is this year, the level of play needed to win the AL Central is not going to cut in the AL playoffs. They need to get to a higher level than that, like they were able to do last season.
