OT- Tigers single game tickets on sale now

Submitted by Rico616 on

Did anyone get tickets to any of the games? Season ticket holders already had first dibbs at them but I managed to get some pretty good seats to a few games.

Tigers fans, what do you look forward to most this season? 95 wins, realistic expectation? I cant wait to see Cabrera/Fielder tag team combo. Now if Martinez was behind the both of them...damn!

For a great season, I can't wait, I just question whether they are going to live up to all the hype. Defensively, they could be dreadful. Who will be the clubhouse leader???

have been that way since just a little after 10am

they are probably getting a lot of phonecalls from all of the scalpers. Buy 'em up and put 'em on stubhub. Seems to be the way of it these days.

I got 4 SRO to Opening Day. I was in super quick, as SRO tickets are numbered chronologically. It seemed as if there were almost no real seats available for opening day today?

Waited in the online virtual waiting room for almost 30 minutes for Opening Day tickets and they were long gone.  I wonder how quickly they sold out.  I would guess they did in less than 15 minutes.  I thought about getting some other games but will probably wait and see what I can get on Stubhub or Craigslist the week of the game.

They've been open since 10am, and I've been in a virtual waiting room since 9:50. I'm now 4th in line though, so maybe I can get seats for Opening Day

As for my expectations? I don't think 100 wins is pushing it, and I think the AL Central is definitely ours to lose

I got in the waiting room a little after 9:45a and was first in line. I think by 10:10 I had tickets to the 3 games I really wanted. Wish I could go to a lot more but working full time and living on the west side of the state limits my options.

If Cabrera can be serviceable at 3B I think Detroit will be ok. Its crazy to expect Verlander to repeat last year. 17 wins and a 3era with improvements from Scherzer/Porcello should be good enough. Also lets see who that fifth starter is. Can they be any worse than Brad Penny?

for that final spot in the rotation.  I think we're going to see Inge on 3B moreso than anyone else including Cabrera.   When either of Cabrera or Fielder are playing 1B the other will be DHing most of the time IMHO.  Leyland loves himself some Inge and his defense is pretty valuable.  I think the real question is going to be what we do when Martinez returns next year. Someone will have to go or Cabrera would have to be relied upon full-time at 3B.  Still not sure/confident that can happen yet.

There's no way in the world Inge plays more time at 3B than anyone else.  He's already transitioning to 2B and Leyland has said Inge won't be moving back and forth unless it's for late game defense - one or two innings when Cabrera wouldn't be missing an AB because of it.

He has also said there is no way Cabrera or Fielder will spend much time at DH.  Look for the DH position to be mostly a rotation between Young, Boesch, Avila (when Laird is catching), and OCCASIONALLY someone else (Cabrera and Fielder maybe 5-6 games each over the whole season, possibly someone like Raburn or Dirks from time to time as well).

Leyland doesn't love Inge as much as you think, and it didn't stop Inge from being released last year.  Leyland loves winning games and cashing his check so he can buy more Pall Mall's.

Because VMart is going to come back eventually (if not late this year, then next) and he is the DH. They are going to figure out if having Cabby and Fielder at the corners is a viable long term option. If not, they will know that going into next offseason and either cut VMart or trade him IMO. They're going to give Cabby as much time as they can at 3rd and give him a chance to be a solid 3rd baseman because Cabby+Prince+Vmart is probably going to be better than Cabby+Prince+whoever comes in to replace Vmart and play  3B.

It doesn't matter what Leyland says. I think the transition will be very tough for Cabrera. The last time he played at 3rd was in 2007 and if you look at zone statistics and things like that, he was pretty bad at the hot corner then. Since 07, he's only gotten bigger and slower. He will be amongst the worst 3rd baseman defensively this season. There is no doubt about it in my mind. I only hope he is good enough to be tolerable there. It will be interesting to see what happens late in games we're leading in. Will Leyland go defensive by putting Inge/Kelly there? And risk not having Cabby in the lineup if the other team ties it up or takes the lead? Or will he risk having Cabby at third and hope they don't hit it to him. One thing is for sure, we will see alot of bunting down the 3rd base line early on this season as teams will be testing Cabrera early and often.

I think this was my 5th year of waiting online to try and get opening day tickets. By the time I got in opening day was sold out. I refuse to pay double price (or more) on a stubhub type site. And, standing room does not appeal to me.

I guess I will have to wait at least another year to check opening day off my bucket list.

Opening day would be a good one to go to and this year they play the BoSox. Should be a good test right out the gates. Never really thought about Opening Day on my bucket list but thats a good one. I dont even bother hitting that up for tickets because those are gone ASAP.

I think this is our year. With the addition of Prince, Boesch healthy, and Avila really improving this offseason, from everything I've read, we have a legitimate shot to win it all.

The question is who is going to be that solid middle/long reliever? I could also see us making a push for another solid rotation guy some point in the season.

Rico616

Long relievers should only be used if your starter is getting rocked that day. And it seems like Porcello always throws for 5.1 and gets pulled. Phil Coke could be the long man with Dotel, Benoit, and Valverde as the 7,8,9 guys. I love Al Alburquerque's stuff! Whens he back in July?

Cut Inge! I was a huge Inge fan, but this kid is stressing me out. Can you imagine the stress he brings to those that deserve to start? Did he catch Illitch selling PCP to 3rd graders on video?

95 wins is more than realistic.  Remember, that's what they had last year, and that was a team that was .500 when they were 50 games in.  They went 20-6 in September.

The team changed when they picked up Fister and Young.  Even then, they were playing without Boesch.

This year they go without V-Mart, but if Boesch, Young, Cabrera, and Fielder are healthy all/most of the year, and guys like Avila, Peralta, and Jackson can contribute the offense will be the best Detroit has possibly ever seen.

The pitching staff will suffer in ERA and WHIP due to a lot more hits dropping in/getting through the infield, but their win totals should be great.  A full year of Verlander, Fister, Scherzer, and Porcello is better than they started last year, and whoever gets that 5th starter between guys like Turner, Oliver, Below, etc should out-perform Brad Penny.

I think 103 wins is more likely than 95.

bacon1431

March 3rd, 2012 at 1:11 PM ^

If we don't get 90 wins, this season will be a disappointment. The AL Central did not do much to get better, and a couple teams got worse IMO. Royals should be better. Indians will have about the same record as I believe they got somewhat lucky by having an amazing winning % in close games the first half of the season. Twins and White Sox got worse. Tigers will be about the same, a slight upgrade adding Fielder but losing VMart.

bacon1431

March 3rd, 2012 at 8:20 PM ^

I know Fielder has more power. But VMart was probably the most clutch hitter in the AL during the regular season, which is why I think Fielder is only a slight upgrade as of now. And his clubhouse leadership was a great addition. Hopefully he can still provide that. I think it's also a little unrealistic to expect the same offensive production from Avila. But he will probably get more rest this year so it could happen. And Peralta pretty much had a career year. I expect him to go back to his career averages.

Living in pittsburgh has one advantage that i have found. Cheap pirate tickets. Looks like my only chance to go to a weekendsummer series will be in june here. Scored some right behind the tig's dugout two for 80 a game.

I'll miss the mitten but im only 5 hours from my hometown on the indiana border so i'll make it to comerica when time allows. From what i've heard steelers/ravens tickets are impossible to get under 300. Any steeler tickets for that matter. I'll check out heinz field sometime but for now im real happy about tigers in june!
