OT Tigers September 6 2009

Brandon Inge. What the hell this team is running away with it. Did not see this coming. Now I have to put Leyland up for Manager of the Year!

I just got back from the game. I live down here in Tampa, but root have been rooting for the Tigs since birth. That game was sick. I had three generations there with me, my old man, and his old man, and I swear my grandpa was heckling any Rays fan around him after that grand slam shot. Awesome.

Deserved to win that game. Holy crap he was the first one thanking Brandon and all his tatoos once he got beck in the dugout.

Man... so the tigers won this week with Robertson and Bonderman pitching... and two(?) 9th inning rallys?

Amazing. I'm used to the Tigers that falter this time of year.

7 games up with 26 to play? I'm not sure, but that looks like a recipe for a division title. Also, with a relatively east schedule the rest of the way....they could be looking at possibly catching the Red Sox or Angels for 2nd or 3rd best AL record,

To avoid the Yankees in the first round we'd have to pass Anahiem (assuming the Sox hold onto the wild card). Passing the BoSox does nothing since you cannot have an intra-division matchup in the first round.

We're currently 6 back of LAA. Unlikely, but worth keeping in mind.

I'm hoping that the Rangers can somehow pass the Redsox. I would much rather face the Angels than the Sox. Their pitching has been pretty inconsistent and they've had some injury problems I think so some of their players might not be at 100%. However, it would be interesting to see a Tigers-Sox rematch somewhere down the line after the Youkilis-Porcello brawl.

I'd prefer facing the Yanks in a 5 game series as opposed to a 7 gamer any day of the week. Look what it did for us a few years back. Win 1 of 2 in the Bronx, come home, wrap it up, get the hell to the next round.

Plus I like Verlander or Jackson in the game 4 and 5 slots (in either order). I don't think we have the offense to battle them for 7 games.

Roll on Tigers! Roll on!

What a great weekend to be a fan of Michigan sports!

I have to say this division is pretty much a wrap, It'd take a monumental collapse kind of like the ones the Mets are used to. So the Tigers have an ass loads of games left within the division. Whichever way you want to look at it, it could be good or bad. Gives the Twins and Sox a chance to come back if they sweep the Tigers but on the other hand...it gives Detroit the opportunity to knock them out for good.

This is by far my favorite time of the year for sports!!!

Inge is totally sweet. Still too early to count out the Twinkies, though. I don't think Ozzie Guillen is the kind of manager that can get a team in gear for a comeback stretch run, but Gardenhire is and the Twins have that kind of history. Remember, we got seven against the Twins and six against the White Sox all at the end of the season, so yeah, it would probably be a pretty epic collapse, but it's not inconceivable.

I am not counting the Twins out but their road to the playoffs is formidable. If the Tigers go 14-12 the rest of the way, very doable, the Twins have to go 21-5 to tie the Tigers. 80% wins for a team that has shown itself to be a 50% win team. Possible? Yes, probable? Hell no.
