6-5 KC Bottom 8th. It looks like a loss today with Joakim Soria coming in. Pitching wasn't sharp today, it was one of those nights. We really should beat KC, but you could say the same to Minny about Toronto and ChiSox about Oakland.

a stranglehold on the AL Central. We could have been 7 1/2 up with 25 to go. With a win tonight, 13-12 the rest of the way (with 14 of those at home and only 11 on the road) would have forced the Twins to go 20-4 just to force a playoff.

Despite the loss, the Magic Number still dropped from 20 to 19. This race if virtually done, the Tigers can cut their Magic Number in half just by winning one out of three the rest of the way and that still might be good enough to win the division. Anybody think they're going to finish that poorly?
If they win or split their next 5 series (which is what they've done in every series for the past month save their road trips to Boston and Oakland), they'll probably have clinched the Central with a week to spare.
Relax, it will take an epic collapse for them to lose the Division at this point.
