you don't jinx my Tigers. Go to blazes anyway.
OT: Tigers Impending Beatdown at Hands of A's
holy negativity, Batman!
I'm TOTALLY serious about the A's fans' signs playing a major role in the outcome of this game.
Also, this Baltimore/NYY game is pretty interesting.
You would be the best Sarcastaball player of all time.
game is on MLB network correct?
High school baseball...ha good one!
Berry with a great at-bat in the 1st. Too bad it ended in a groundout, but he fouled off like 7 pitches. We needed that last night.
Does Sherzer remind anyone else of Bo Pelini ?
Oh, I see it now. They both have two arms!
And neither is a particularly good football coach.
What do you think Vegas would put odds in Berry taking a BB?
Yup. That move, as well as Cabrera for Miller and Maybin, have been A+ moves. The Infante/Sanchez move is looking good too, but time will tell.
I like the Fister trade. We got him for Casper Wells, Furbush and bag of used baseballs.
Obligatory reminder that it was in fact the greatest trade of all time, as long as you call it the Fister-Furbush trade.
terrible we couldn't say "the game was won by the fister-furbush combo".
the tigers gave up granderson. he's only been a 40 plus homer guy since then. plus the tigers gave up the other jackson. i understand the trade, but the tigers would be obviously better with curtis in the lineup.
Sure Granderson hits 40 HR, but he does it in Coors East and his average has tanked. He's past his prime and AJax is reaching his.
Scherzer is dealing. 4ks through 2. A's looking very uncomfortable.
Lead off double for Avila! Bunt? I'd say no, but, man, the offense lately....
So what's up with all the B/R app commercials? Are they becoming somewhat legit, or did they get lucky with a nice deal?
Woo! An RBI!!! AJax! Let's keep it going for the big bats and give Scherzer some breathing room!
Not a fan of bunting early in the game, but they did score a run. Keep the good swings coming boys!
What's up with the A's fans booing Cabrera? Is he not the epitome of a likable star?
with the other, less cuddly Cabrera?
I saw some negative comments on another, less knowledgeable and discerning website after an article about Cabrera's Triple Crown dissing him. The mention of steroids gave it away.
Go watch the national league!
Tom, I'm with you man. This is the most overrated, underperforming, lazy, fat, ugly, dumb, cheating bunch of scallywags. They don't deserve the shoelaces in their cleats, much less a win tonight.
Abandon all hope, ye who cheer for the Tigers.
If you are still using anglefire there is no way your dial up connection can handle a stream.
Prince was due
I see ya Prince! I think Stoney (or WoJo) called that HR a few hours before the game.
"Shut that Ford cup"?
I'm sure I read JV's lips accurately, but I just don't get what he's trying to say...
Dude plays some good old timey baseball. Solid.
Holy crap, Griffin nearly got his head took off. That was close to some Herb Score stuff there.
Too bad Peralta can't sac bunt...
I am going to be pissed if Jhonny is on this team next year
okay, but name a better SS option?
Y U NO BUNT?!?
He physically can't bunt. I think Peralta was asked to bunt once this year (maybe it was last year) and it was one of the most pathetic looking things I've seen recently in baseball.
I will not be sad to see Jhonny go. He is no longer my Jhomeboy.
Peralta doubly fucked a big inning by hacking at what was clearly ball four.
I know it was early, but wouldn't have minded seeing worth pinch hit so he could have layed down a bunt and stay in as a DR.
I agree with this message.
Max is dealing right now, very efficient through 4.
Do the usual...
Love this game so far!!!!
With as efficient as Scherzer has been, I can't believe how many A's are just swinging away. They're looking almost as undisciplined as Delmon Young... ok, maybe not that bad. But Scherzer's on fire.
Network is this on?
Great clutch pitching
Terrible swing by Pennington, Max survives a walk and a bloop.
Who is more unhappy tonight - the Orioles for losing or ARod for his replacement coming up clutch twice?
Tigers' ugly defense finally reared its ugly head this inning. Please get through this unscathed.
That was about as freebie a run as you are ever gonna get
Phil Coke's in, and here we go.....
My thoughts exactly. That and Aaaaaarrrrggghhhhhhh!
This game could cost Leyland his job if it goes awry.
These announcers are horrible.
Oh my that sounded like a certain HR off the bat, thank god it wasn't. Exhale..
Does anyone else hate Reddick based on appearance and facial expressions alone?
I do like his hair, dislike his attitude
I dislike him based on stupid mullet and preaching about maturity after throwing a temper tantrum in the dugout.
Reddick is the biggest tool in baseball. Love it when mediocre journeymen take up the mantle of what's right and good. Stupid redneck.
Damn Oakland can play some defense...
Why do innings last 25 minutes when Oakland bats and about 45 seconds when the Tigers bat?
Wow - Alburquerque in. Wasn't sure we'd see him in a tight situation in Oakland.
I hope he has a kid that marries Jarrod Saltalamacchia's kid, and they hyphenate.
Garcia is not a mature hitter yet. Bad move. Can't and won't take a pitch.
EDIT: NEG Bomb me now! Insert foot in mouth.
I couldn't respond fast enough haha!
Edit: nice job by Jackson to get the bunt down
Looking forward to seeing what Mini-Miggy can do in a full season. So clutch right there.
Benoit likely coming in.
Everyone get in the bomb shelter.
Oh God here comes Benoit please no dingers please please please no dingers
Well 6 outs that will likely be filled with drama, hold on to ya butts.
Seeing that replay again, I still have no idea why Stephen Drew thought it was a good idea to dive into 3rd with Cabrera blocking the bag. That's like jumping into a brick wall.
Oh god, Benoit vs. Cuban Centipede
This might not go well
or better yet the guy who almost took him deep in Game 1 now
Benoit is taking years off my life.
3 more outs, finish them!
I'll take some more insurance runs here. Please and thank you.
My team is up 3-1, and is not the one three outs from elimination, and I'm nervous as shit. Further proof that the unusual format is still not really a problem for the favorite.
That's baseball - a game of nervous energy.
Papa Grande time!!! Take us to the ALCS big fella!
It couldn't have been easy, could it?
Is it just me or is that little slither a new part of the routine?
It's never going to be easy with Valverde, is it? This is way too late for this.
Double play please...
Think I'll grab a beer...
I don't understand why Infante was shaded up the middle against a lefthanded hitter. We gave him tht singe on what should have been a routine ground out.
I thought the exact same thing.
Shit!!!! Fucking Valverde!!!
Fuck you, Valverde.
I don't always hate Valverde, but when I do, it's because he blew the ALCS clincher in the 9th.
They will be out of the country if they manage to blow this one again tonight. Even still, the broadcasters kept showing Dombrowski sitting with his wife in the ninth, and I guarantee all he was thinking at the time is the entire bullpen will NOT be back next season.
Valverde. Peralta. Young. Three Players I hope are not on next year's roster.
I think it is a given that Young is gone. I certainly hope we can find a SS and I'm cool with old ball kisser as a closer if we can't find anyone else. Ofcourse Valverde was 56 for 56 (roughly) last year in save opportunities.
achievements in the history of baseball
Wouldn't surprise me to see DD sign all three of them. We sure as hell don't have anyone in the Minors.
Peralta, yeah I'd like an upgrade.. but the SS free agent market is crap this year. Unless they can trade for a cornerstone guy (Elvis Andrus available?), they should exercsie Peralta's 6million team option
We do lose a decent, but extremely inconsistent bat in Young, but the similarity in all of these guys is if we do get rid of all of them, we gain SO MUCH cap space. We are basically paying these guy boatloads of money to underachieve and we saw how much it burned us last night.
Too late to hit the sauce?
If we lose this game, Leyland better let Verlander go all 9 tomorrow.
on the bench
we get to see the true limit of Verlander's pitch count
I want to say this is unbelievable, but its not. Its Valverde.
Right now, somewhere, Todd Jones is laughing his ass off.
Those are my exact thoughts every time I see Captain Petrol break out of his spaceman stare, waddle to the mound, and blow a save.
If his new super agent doesn't price his starter-confidence-killing ass out of here next year, I will be unable to watch a single game after the 8th inning.
Apparently an IBB to set up an inning-ending double play never crossed anyone's mind.
The way the tater tot was throwing it probably will still end up down the middle of the plate.
So happy I fought off sleep all ths time for this shit. Now I'm not tired. PERFECT.

Glad I stayed up for this.
Not really... But gotta love the sarcasm
If I broke the thread, I'm sorry.
Even if Verlander destroys them tomorrow, this blows up the rotation for any future series. Awful.
Valverde is an old Spanish phrase that translates to English as " choking douchebag". Speaking of which was it just me or were the announcers pulling for Oakland?
How the FCC just allowed TBS to air Jose Valverde undoing his pants, squatting down, and laying a giant brown turd on my tv just now is simply remarkable.
Fuck you Valverde! FUCK YOU!!
I am so fucking glad I turned this game off after the second hit in the ninth. I might have "accidentally" made a monitor go through a window.
When your grandson asks you what you did in the Great War, you won't have to say "Well, I shoveled shit in Louisiana." Fuckin Valverde!
I don't know about you guys, but I blame valverde for this loss.
3 weeks ago half of you thought the Tigers would miss the playoffs. Just one Verlander start away from the ALCS. Just hope Valverde isn't called on in the 9th.
I'm not calling for anyone's head (yet) but MAN! For the hitters we have, we SUCK! It's a bad ball park for hitters, but so few balls have even been put in play. That ending is just what Valverde does, he is either going to have a good night, or a bad night - I wish Leyland would just pull him when everyone can see the writing on the wall. The irony is that when Dotel was in a jam the commentators mentioned how loyal Leyland is to his guys and how he will trust them to get out of a jam - I guess he's loyal to a fault. Realistically, I do like Leyland, but the hitting coach has got to go. If we were hitting like we could be, we'd be up enough runs so we'd have a "Valverde Buffer". I'm going to fill out a trademark application for that right now.
It's all or nothing tonight. With a loss and no red wings (as of yet), the lions looking how they do and the pistons rebuilding - it could be a year of misery in a city that knows it all too well.
In Italy. I woke up at 5am to catch the latter half of the game.
...at 7:12am, I stopped watching. Valverde, I'll send you the bill for lost sleep.
Stop posting they keep loosing
Very, very loose. Must have had a real good warm-up session with a lot of stretching.
Use italic font for sarcasm....
Yeah man fire Jim! Hopefully it works out as well as when we canned Flip!!!
Why Valverde is still on our roster I can't figure out. He's terrible when we need him the most. I'm not staying up again tonight because I know what's going to happen.
