OT - Tiger to take "Indefinite break from golf"

However, if he takes a break longer than a year.... wow this is big news.

I guess there will be a lot of available golf tickets until Augusta... Bad year to be Tim Finchem. I hope Tiger Woods can come to terms with his issues/demons (although hopefully not on Oprah...) and get back to just being a parent, spouse and professional golfer. The whole thing is just sad.

what i have a problem understanding is why Tiger got married in the first place. decent looking dude + hundreds of millions of dollars = no problem getting laid as a bachelor so why get married and cheat?

I'm going to write about the golf part of this instead of the personal garbage that has dominated the sports media and even threatened to overshadow the Brian Kelly hiring. One thing has irritated me more than anything about golf the last ten years: the "Tiger-proofing" of Augusta National. The behind the scenes culture at Augusta has been finding new ways to "Tiger-proof" the course every year since the one he dominated. It took them a few tries. First, they lengthened a lot of the holes, but it only made it even easier for him because there was less competition. Then, they went so far as to put hazards in many of his preferred driving areas, but he was still doing OK. Finally, they found their "solution:" make the course so much like glorified mini-golf that it takes a lot of luck to win. Tiger can control a lot of things, but the more luck added into the factor, the less of an advantage he has. They can say all they want about trying to play to the "original specifications" of Bobby Jones, but all they have really done is do their best to take one man out of the Masters: Tiger Woods. Basically, the people who run Augusta have ruined the original course, turning it into something Bobby Jones wouldn't recognize, just to diminish one person's chances of winning. If they don't want Tiger to win, then they don't deserve to reap the benefits of his participation. And that is why I hope he decides to come back sometime around the Memorial, in time to warm up for the US Open.

"Indefinite break from golf" = "Indefinite break from banging hot 'n' skanky porn-star hos so my wife won't take every fucking cent I have."

that you just really enjoy watching. Tiger is near the top of the list. It is hard to watch golf with him now try without him. When you see him play you always think to yourself he is going to make the shot and somehow win. It's sad that he did this, it's even sadder that he is done with golf for who knows how long. Will the public ever forgive him? Kobe was accused of rape and nobody seems to care now. Tyson almost has a free pass now. It takes time to move on in the forum of public opinion I just wish it wasn't Tiger that we had to give time to.

Tiger should take some time to get his life straightened out, and wait out the media circus. The PGA will be begging him to come back after their ratings plummet 40%. He's brought to golf what Muhammed Ali brought to boxing. Tiger's not even self named "the greatest", he is the greatest golfer of all time.

Tiger should just come out and state, "if you strike me down now, I will become more powerful than you could ever imagine." Guaranteed that the press backs off.

Tiger Woods has been my second favorite "team" to root for since I can remember. I've watched most of his rounds for the past 9 or so years... This whole story has affected me in a way I couldn't have predicted. His "handlers" have done an unbelievable job creating this sort of superhuman-perfect-man image of Tiger Woods. I thought the man was perfect, well shit it seemed like he could do anything. He's just a normal guy... Sorry for the meta-emo post. Just wanted to get a bit of it off my chest.
