OT: Tiger admits to "transgressions"

Submitted by AMazinBlue on
Tiger has put out a statement admitting to "transgressions" that have hurt his family. Of course no details of those transgressions, but at least he owning up to making poor decisions. http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/12/02/tiger.woods/index.html He is right, that the details are his famil's not for the public. His mistake in dealing with all this was to act like nothing happened. When you are a public figure and either deny everything or act like it never happened when there is mounting evidence to the contrary, it only gets worse. The press seems to go away when you simply admit you screwed up and won't let it happen again. The denials cause more problems that the actual deed.

I have always thought that the idea of athletes as role models was ridiculous. I remember when Sir Charles did that commercial and the debate it sparked and I sided with the message of the commercial. However, I grew up in a stable two parent household so that could have influenced my thinking.

Seems to be getting worse by the hour, but he was obviously in deeper than anyone thought. He overestimated his ability to control this. That phone message is bad...ouch. My question is what motivated the woman to turn it over to the media? Is the couple of days fame she gets out of it worth it? Did she sell it?

Not everybody is a perfect person in this world. I mean, everyone does ... kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me. I just feel people need to give him a chance.

Granted he gets the endorsements mainly due to his ability on the course, but he makes roughly $10M/yr playing golf and $90M from endorsements and off the course deals. This "transgression" will hurt him a little, but he will be fine. The constant denials and hiding from this is causing him much more trouble than dealing with the truth. I'm sure he had a goal to get on the cover of every magazine at some point. Guess what, he just might now. Be careful what you wish for... My dad always told me, always tell the truth no matter what and you don't have to remember anything. Once you tell lies, you have to remember all those details and eventually you'll get caught. The other thing I like to say, "nothing good ever happens after 1 AM on the road". Just one more example. Whether it's drunks or angry wives with 5-irons, it's best to stay home.

They can market a new line of clubs—Call it the Nordegrin Line Cheater Beaters®—with his wife demonstrating the sure, sticky grip, the light but strong shaft, and the shatter-resistant head.

that his wife was trying to "rescue him" with that golf club....what a fuckin joke. I can't believe how gullible people are willing to be when their favorite golfer fucks up.

Tiger Tiger turning right In the driveway late at night Your immortal hand and eye Couldn't make the car comply? Of whose waiting shapely thighs Did you dream with bolted eyes Instigating you to crash Into the stately water ash? -Anonymous
