OT: Is there a new Hulk on the block?

Submitted by 74polSKA on

I thought we could use a little humor on a Friday.  Here's a funny Yahoo! Sports story for you. Free agent to be LaRon Landry has apparently been hitting the weights pretty hard during his injury rehab.  I like the fake letter to his suitors.  While he is crazy big for a SAFETY, I still don't think he can take "Hulk" from our man Martin.

"Also, I wear gloves while using the restroom."

However, I'm a diehard MICHIGAN fan first and foremost...so I just root for Michigan players more than anything else.

With that said, being born and partially raised (until high school) in Detroit. The Pistons, Lions, Tigers and Wings will always be my #1 pro teams.

Nonetheless, you are right, I have a #2 and even #3 team in all of pro sports except for pro hockey.

I think some of us, myself included, use the term "fan" too easily.  I'm a "fan" of the Bills and Sabres because my dad is from Buffalo.  However, I'm more emotionally tied to the Patriots because of Brady and, I'll admit it, they are relevant in the NFL today.  The Bills were fun (and agonizing) to root for when I was in HS and they went to 4 straight SB's.  Not so much the last two decades.

Prior to the Lions reaching the level of decent:  You watch Michigan on Saturday to see football.  You watch the Lions on Sunday to laugh.

It's easy being a Lions fan when you aren't emtionally invested in them winning.  Just watch it for the hilarity.

Agreed.  I'm a Lions fan first and only.  I have other teams I like to watch/follow, almost always because of ex-Wolverines, but I don't get invested in those teams like I do the Lions.

Also - Laron Landry is a monster.  But it's not like he wasn't a monster a year or two ago either.  He's no Mike Martin, but I wouldn't fuck with him either.

Posting self-pics of yourself striking a pose in the bathroom is something teen age girls do when they get their boobies (which Landry seems to have accomplished). Congratulations on getting your period, Laron.

Mike Martin can't take pictures like that for two reasons.

1. He isn't a 14 year old girl

2. He would crush the phone when he pushed the button to take the picture.

Violate the MGobewbz policy? Please tell me that it does so that no one gets cute and posts that awful picture of Terrence Cody  to try and compare their cup sizes..........

I'm really trying not to break out the "These kids today" bullcrap (because it isn't just kids). I'm trying to understand...can someone explain to me the tattoo infatuation? I can't see why you'd want one tattoo...but...whatever. Why on earth would you want to cover yourself from head to toe with tats?

If you're a kid, I get the whole superficial rebellion thing. Seriously, go right and dye your hair whatever color you want. Shave it, spike it, dread it...whatever. Go nuts. The rest of us don't take you seriously anyway. But: 1) It will grow back and 2) you're a kid.

Why would someone old enough to buy beer willfully deface themselves like a brick wall in south central? What's the appeal? It's your body...do with it what you will. But what's the appeal?

There have actually been some good MGoDiscussions on the nature of tattoos and their popularity. Personally, I'm 22 and agree with you to an extent, even though I'm planning on getting one (or two, depending how you look at it, I want two important lines of text on the back of my shoulder in black ink). I know some people who have spent a ton of money on a lot of tattoos, and I don't really get that either, but like you said, it's their body.

There's some good discussion about a wolverine tattoo here:

The other photo in the article is even crazier.  You can see how big his bicep really is.  I think its circumference is larger than my waist.

Dude's pretty big but also understand that he just worked out so he's got a pump going on.  That's also the reason he's wearing gloves in the bathroom.

Good for him - he'll have a great second career as a mediocre professional wrestler after people realize that he still sucks at playing safety and those added muscles won't change his ability to tackle anyone.

David Boston did the same thing a couple of years ago, and was out of the league after his body fell apart.
