OT: Thanksgiving Day Games Open Thread

Fairley has turned it on as of late. Starting to look like a 1st rounder.Defense will be key to winning this game.

Don't forget the Texas-TCU game. Gonna be weird watching the longhorns not play a&m on turkey day. Sad actually.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:06 PM ^
Thanks I added it. It is sad, but I think A and M would put a beating on Texas this year so the Longhorns saved themselves some embarrassment IMO.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:13 PM ^
That series is over until UT's AD gets his panties out of a wad. Since A&M left for the SEC, he instructed his coaches to avoid A&M in all sports. It's sad; great rivalry and turkey day tradition.

It's good to see Scheffler and Stafford on the same page early this game. I feel like if they were clicking together last week they would've beat GB.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:30 PM ^
Suh is a disgrace.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:38 PM ^
This type of stuff happens all the time. The pile in particular is where grabs, twists, and pokes occur.
That doesn't excuse it, but many players do what Suh does.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:19 PM ^
They know enough to do it in the pile though, not in the open on the quarterback. Wouldn't be surprised if he's gone for another game given the NFL's emphasis on protecting the QB.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:39 PM ^
I am a Lions fan and I hate watching Suh. Too much dirty play, it's terrible.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
Those side-arms are working well.
November 22nd, 2012 at 1:45 PM ^
If Stafford ever becomes consistent, look out.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:03 PM ^
Please keep Ball one on one with Megatron.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:15 PM ^
Listening to these talking heads calling Suh dirty makes me sick. He's a tough football player and that's it. They are completely buying into the new wuss-ified NFL. "Oh, that tackle looked mean.... $75,000! Now do you want to buy this 'Ultimate Hits' video from NFL.com? It's only $19.99!"
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:21 PM ^
You're a fool.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:38 PM ^
Let me guess... west side of the state... Packers fan?
Oh, nevermind, from Indy so a Colts fan. What the new NFL rules (which HEAVILY favor offenses like yours) and hurt teams who actually like to play defense and tackle aren't being enforced even more to allow even more rediculous passing statistics? Sorry, some fans still like to see smashmouth football, not a bunch of track-stars wearing "Wedding Dress White" uniforms prancing around the field trying to get 500 yards passing a game while missing 1/2 their tackles and trying to win games 48-42!
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:56 PM ^
You do know Stafford threw for like a billion yards last year? Pot meet kettle.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:23 PM ^
You mean a SuperBowl QB, hall of fame QB, all-pro WR and legendary coach talking heads? That was punk by Suh on the crotch kick. I watched him play for Nebraska alot on tv down here and this is not a new thing for him. Great player but ruins it with unnecessary gsrbage.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:23 PM ^
Are you actually trying to make the case that he's not dirty, given his history? There's a lot there to excuse. I agree with the point about the hypocrisy of the denunciation and glorification of violence by the networks and the NFL, but this is a different issue. Usually, when someone wins that players' vote of dirtiest player in the NFL, it's because they're ... a pretty dirty player.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:34 PM ^
Players' voted that Hines Ward was the league's dirtiest player for like 3/5 years for a period. Why? Because defensive players didn't like being put on their butts. Same here, he's a dominate player who puts other players on their butts. I doubt that crotch "kick" was intentional, he was being swung down to the ground at the time and would've had to have had amazing body control to do it intentionally.
Here's Jim Rome's take on Ward: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9UVpEvuc4M
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:33 PM ^
That's guys tickets need to be revoked. I've seen him the last few home games. We have no Superbowl rings to show off. This is almost as embarrassing as the playoff banner they have hanging at Ford Field. I love the Lions but dear lord.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:29 PM ^
I guess everyone assumes Suh has eyes in the back of his head seeing as his head was in the turf when his leg hit Schaubs crotch.... He has had some stupid plays in his career but this is not one of them, for that matter neither were any of the hits on Cutler. Ridiculous.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:31 PM ^
We all know Suh has made some dirty plays in his 3 year career, but half the plays they showed in that montage at the half were not dirty at all. The media likes to pick on the guy a little too much IMO.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:39 PM ^
The anti-Suh circle-jerk is in full effect.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:50 PM ^
WHAT AN IDIOTIC GARBAGE CALL FROM THESE IDIOT OFFICIALS! THREE POINTS OF HIS BODY WERE DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HATE THE NFL SO MUCH, GOODELL CAN GO DIE WITH HIS DAMN NEW RULES AND THESE TERRIBLE OFFICIALS!
Give me college football anyday, I am fed up with this increasingly shoddy league.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:52 PM ^
Please stop posting.
November 22nd, 2012 at 10:25 PM ^
Slurp.
So are the Suh apologists.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
How is that not a reviewable call?
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
What is the point of replay?
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
What the hell is that horseshit?
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:53 PM ^
Replay rules are fucking stupid.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:53 PM ^
How is that not a reviewable call??? We must have the replacement refs doing this game.
November 22nd, 2012 at 10:26 PM ^
Scores are AUTOMATICALLY reviewed. They cannot be challenged.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:53 PM ^
Was the problem that he threw the flag? Somebody please explain this to me
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:54 PM ^
because Schwartz threw his challenge flag...which is a penalty, so it negates the automatic review from upstairs. STUPID RULE!
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:56 PM ^
Seriously, if you want to throw a flag for that, fine. But no replay as a result? Absolutely f'ing ridiculous.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
Otherwise we'd see some really bad officiating on the field.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
Well shit.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
WHAT THE FLYING FUCK.
November 22nd, 2012 at 2:59 PM ^
Been slow on the whistle all game. No excuse for these blown calls... Or lack of blown calls.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:00 PM ^
I have an awful feeling like that flag is going to cost us this game.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
is one of the reasons I absolutely loathe the NFL. This wasn't a flukey call...it was WRITTEN IN THE RULEBOOK that way. How can you give a team a touchdown they didn't earn??? Unbelievable.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:03 PM ^
It really is complete lunacy.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
to complete lunacy, for sure.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:13 PM ^
This is why I'm fucking sick of the NFL. So stupid.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:07 PM ^
The next Detroit RB who gets tackled should just get up and keep running and get that TD back.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:10 PM ^
That really left a bad taste in my mouth after a good meal. They really need to change that rule.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
That was terrible. I just texted my buds and forfeited my bets.
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:18 PM ^
Bell is reppin Wayne State...Love that
November 22nd, 2012 at 3:19 PM ^
Why isn't anyone else calling Schwartz a dumbass? He gave the Texans that TD not the refs. How does an NFL coach not know the rules? Especially after a similar play happened last weekend in a different game.
Plain and simple Schwartz is an idiot and cost the Lions that TD.
