OT: Texas vs. Texas A&M
I'm early - it starts in about 10 minutes.
This one is rather significant in that it will be the last time these two teams play as in-conference rivals. If I recall correctly, there are only two other rivalries which have played more often than this one, so hopefully we're in for an interesting game.

He never went to either school, but still acute introduction to the game along with a "Mission: Impossible" promo.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Texas should blow them out. But u never know
November 24th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
I stand corrected. TT up 10-0
November 24th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
Pretty crazy that Texas can't win with all of these 5 stars.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Totally against A&M here. Hook 'em.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
I feel bad for Rece Davis. He might be my favorite ESPN announcer and he's stuck with that group.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
I have always liked Rece too. Solid announcer for ESPN.

I like that when this is mentioned, it's spoken like it is in quotes too, almost as if the reason really could be "herpes simplex"
November 24th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
Not having Cyrus Gray or Christine Michael really hurts A&M. This could be a really low scoring game.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:08 PM ^
Want to win. I want Texas A&M to win because I hate the Longhorn Network but I want Texas to win because then it looks like the SEC is gaining a shit team. Decisions, decisions...
November 24th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
The Longhorn Network is a serious overreach, but I've always liked Texas. I'm a fan of old-money programs.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Go A&M. Texas is one of the other programs with a ton of wins, and every one of their losses puts them further behind us.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Pumpkin chumpkin is on. Watch that on the discovery channel.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
He's about three people...
November 24th, 2011 at 8:15 PM ^
I feel like that offsides penalty might be one of the 10 longest gainers of the day.
I've always wanted to see a 4-2 game. Maybe tonight's the night.
Edit: Dammit.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
A combination of up-the-gut runs and a nce dart to a wide open receiver is working here.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I've always been mad I missed the 2008 Auburn vs Miss State 3-2 game. I'm just hoping to see something like it.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I was lucky enough to see Texas vs A&M back in 2006 at DKR stadium. It was a hell of a game in Colt McCoy's first year. A&M won the game 12-7. Lots of nice scenery as far as the ladies go too.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
How is Texas still ranked? They're brutal and are most likely going to be 6-6. I'm hoping that Meyer gets offered the Texas job.
Why aren't Texas-and ATM going to play non-conference like Michigan-ND?
November 24th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
Officially, the reason given is that Texas has their non-con schedule through 2018 and can't make room for another game. Unofficially, Texas bitterly fought the A&M move to the SEC (going as far as retaining a lobbying firm to work on the Texas Legislature). Since Texas is refusing to schedule A&M in any sport, I tend to favor the unofficial explanation.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:41 PM ^
It's just that hard to watch Case McCoy try to QB the Longhorns....
November 24th, 2011 at 9:16 PM ^
Thank the BCS computers for that. Texas gets zero votes in the AP poll, and one 25th-place vote in the coaches poll. The BCS computers, however, love the Big 12. They have OK State 2nd, Kansas St. 5th, Oklahoma 6th, Baylor 13th, and Texas 20th. They have 6-5 Texas three slots ahead of 9-2 Wisconsin and three slots behind 9-2 Michigan State (who is two slots behind Michigan, so they're not all bad). Apparently, they don't require teams to play both offense and defense in order to be good, because I don't think any Big 12 team can do both.

November 24th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
...at the 45. I'd take it.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
This seems to stymie the Longhorns.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
November 24th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
....if they want to keep starting from inside their own 10. Really, Texas?
November 24th, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
Texas A&M just made a field goal from somewhere back in Irving to put 3 more on the board.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Randy Bullock is A&M's Garrett Rivas.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
...when the other team's return unit just hangs out on the sidelines, doesn't sit down and is on the field before your kicking team.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
Texas just tripled its yardage with that broken play.
November 24th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
Shipley was way lucky on that last catch. I can't help but root for A & M right now, next year I will root for Texas as I just can't root for any SEC team.

November 24th, 2011 at 9:02 PM ^
Really thats crazy!? I still can't believe how bad Texas has been lately Carr > Brown in my eyes.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
...to slow David Ash's aging so he'll be eligible for the game. They need someone who can at least complete a pass out there without the help of broken plays.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Isn't it crazy how bad Texas has been. I always liked Mack Brown but damn, do you think he'll make it through the season after this one?
November 24th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
Next year will answer a lot for this team and Mack Brown. I am not sure the Longhorn fans will sit through many 6-6 or 7-5 seasons. I'll have to look at their recruiting....
November 24th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
Yeah I hear you. One would think they have less patience than in Michigan, yet they have shown more than we gave Lloyd Carr.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
You know that Carr stepped down voluntarily, right? He wasn't shown the door.
If you're just talking about fans, and not the school, visit any UT message board and you'll see a ton of criticism of Brown.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:37 PM ^
Oh I know that Brown is under criticism and a lot of it. How could he be not? My anology is based on the talent level both coaches were entitled to and the lack of any results on the field. Bad coaching is bad coaching no matter where it is coached.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:45 PM ^
I'm not sure how they are showing more patience than us. Brown had to rebuild Texas when he got there. They didn't win anything under John Mackovic, his predecessor. It was Brown who turned them into a recruiting juggernaut. In a way he's more like their Bo Schembechler than Carr - but he's obviously not revered that way by UT fans.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:56 PM ^
I just don't understand how you can't win 10 games every year with the recruits they pull in every year.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:08 PM ^
Well, he was until 2010. From 2001-09, Texas went 11-2, 11-2, 10-3, 11-1, 13-0, 10-3, 10-3, 12-1 and 13-1. He had a phenomenal winning percentage prior to last year. And yet, Brown has never been held in very high esteem. People were calling him an underachiever even after some of those one-loss seasons. Only in the last two years has he truly underachieved.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
Wow, thanks for pulling those stats. I guess it kind of reminds me of Lloyds first 50%. Maybe Texas will be wise enough to read the tea leaves.
