Tragedy Struck in Texas As a Rangers Fan Died After Trying To Catch a Foul Ball. Here is the Video
A Texas Rangers fan died after falling about 20 feet while trying to catch a foul ball. During the July 7, 2011 game between the Texas Rangers and Oakland A's, a fan reaching out for a foul ball fell 20 feet into a space in left field.
Rangers president Nolan Ryan said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to learn that the man who fell has passed away as a result of this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
The Texas Rangers fan incident occurred in the second inning of the A's-Rangers game. Oakland's Conor Jackson hit a foul ball to left field. Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton threw the ball into the stands and the fan reached out and fell about 20 feet. The fan left the stadium in a stretcher and was rushed to hospital.
A similar incident happened last year when a man fell nearly 30 feet at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
