OT: Terry Bradshaw on Jimmah

Submitted by 919 Brown on

There is something very genuine about him, and I guess that's why I like him so much. And then there's this:

On former Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen, Carolina’s second-round draft choice: “Well, let me say what I said earlier, after the draft: I didn’t like him in college and I don’t like him now. Never did like him, don’t like his delivery, so ... He doesn’t look to be a difference-maker — just another guy, as far as I’m concerned. If he proves me wrong, I’ll be the first to say, ‘Wow, that guy is really good, you know.’”

He comments on a couple of other topics including the Lions here:

We'll have to see. What's interesting and potentially scary for Panthers fans is the fact that Jimmy did get to play with NFL receivers in college but, for the most part, was not playing against NFL calibur DBs. Although he does probably get a primary receiver upgrade in Steve Smith, his secondary option is nowhere near as good as ND's #2 last year. The Corners/Safeties will be significantly faster and better at reading defenses than virtually any that Clausen has played against.

God bless those basketball players. Bless his heart, he had to take a pay cut, but he did, LeBron and all those (guys). What is he making, $18 million? God bless him.

I had to hold back from laughing too loud at my desk!

One of the things I've always liked about Jimmah is that he's gotten better every year. And not just when it comes to throwing the ball; you could tell that he became a better leader and commanded more respect from his teammates at the years went on, especially this past one. A lot of people said that he had limited upside because he was already 19 years old coming into college and had gotten all of that training previously, but I think he proved those doubters wrong. I wish him good luck in the pros, and I think he's going to do all right.

And honestly, even if he only becomes a halfway decent middle of the road NFL qb, or even a mediocre starter, he was still great value in the 2nd round.

....Jimmy has gotten better and proved his toughness. And while it's fun to rip on pickle boy due to his perceived arrogance and emu like resemblance, the kid has been a good QB.

Bradshaw's comment is a cheap shot because the kid has yet to take a damn snap as a pro. Let Jimmy at least play some games before ripping him. If he falters, then let the sniping can began!

Sorry, but Jimmah is very good.  In the game last year, how many quarters would we have to play before he threw an interception?  12?  I see him being one of those guys who ends up a better pro than college player.  He'll have good talent all around, his huge ego is probably just average for pro players, and he has all the physical tools.

Well, put me in Bradshaw's camp. Carolina has been half broken for a few years. If Jimmah fixes them, then OK. I liked Brady Quinn better, and he hasn't done much. So I am not expecting any Jimmah-led returns to glory in Charlotte.
