OT: Terrible Jim Nantz Pun for the National Championship Game

Submitted by MaizeyBlue on

In honor of the game tomorrow, what will Jim Nantz say when the clock reads 0:00???

Some from the past include:

Rock Chalk Championship.

A milestone victory for Arizona

You can leave it to Cleaves

It began in March, ended in April and belongs to May

Butler:

"The Butler has done it!"  Way too obvious

UCONN

"A Walk in the park"

Anyone else have anything good they've been thinking up???

I hate that guy, but oh well, I'll play along:

With the final bumping up so close to the Masters, doesn't the guy feel obliged to make a Butler Bulldogs/Butler cabin reference?

Damn I hate that guy... oh wait, I already said that.

If Butler wins, there will be mom, apple pie, or heartland references.  If UConn wins, he will go with the perseverence theme.  I don't think I'll be watching tonight, though.  I just don't have a "dog" in this fight.  I don't think I have anyone I rooted for has won since the Sweet Sixteen.  The post-Wrestlemania RAW will probably be more fun.

What did Aunt Jemima say to Fat Albert when he stole her grits?"

Clark Kellogg - "Damn it, Jim!  What did I tell you about that shit!  Don't make me bitch slap yo honkey ass on national TV!"

That has already been used by the NYT or some similar outfit.

I blame Chris Berman for all this.  He and ESPN have been a mixed blessing.  I appreciate some cleverness with sports reporting, but too much is too much.

The worst thing about it is that the best "calls" are off the cuff (e.g, "do you believe in miracles?," "I don't believe what I just saw," "the Giants win the pennant!").  Nobody remembers Nantz' calls, other than the fact that they exist and are horrifically corny.

1. loves his own stupid attempts at "Vin Scully-esque" poetic description (he's unoriginal)

2. subtle racism

3. reminds us too much of Billy Packer's hate for the world and all things Michigan

4. He hates Michigan

5. "Historic..... Butler Cabin !" ; "I know Freddy Couples" ; "Gosh I love Duke."

I just think the guy tries too hard to be what he isn't.  Also doesn't seem to make any real contributions to the actual game itself.

Anyone notice he was bumped in the UConn post-game interview and stumbled a bit?  (He he.. I chuckle to myself)

The internet is just gradually making things like talking about how awful announcers are relevant again.

The Fab 5 thing has pissed off Michigan fans. Also, I think Bill Simmons' love of Gus Johnson has made people think about announcers in general a little more and Nantz really is the anti-Gus.

If it's Butler, it'll probably be something built off of Bulldogs and underdogs having bite or something. Even he sees the "Butler did it" is too easy.

Otherwise, for UConn, "Yes we Kemba"

THANK YOU.  Man I have to mute the TV when Johnny Miller is on, but WOW Nantz is not that far behind him.  I mean if I have to hear...a tradition unlike any other..one more time I may start to mute the masters which I would hate since it's my favorite golf tournament by far.  How awkward does he make the butler cabin interview every year??

"UConn couldn't hold off the battling Bulldogs on this Monday Night in Houston.  For all of the CBS Basketball Crew, this is Jim Nantz signing off, getting ready to go suck Coach K's KOK!!!"

I've been on the record on this here forum as defending Nantz and calling him legit.

I can't defend what he said. It was so cheezy.

UCONN IS TOP DOG

Hey he made a pun with dog hahahahahahahaha

He is the only guy that does this, Musburger, Michaels...even Buck don't use dumb puns like that. If Butler won you get this feeling he yells

THE BUTLER DID IT

It's not funny, it's stupid

Just say they're won the championship like a regular person
