OT: [Temporary] Georgia Running Back Apocalypse

Submitted by ATLWolverine on

Georgia has just suspended three running backs for at least 1 game over a failed drug test.

Their best remaining RB injured his ankle against Florida at the Cocktail Party, leaving only a redshirt soph with little experience to play this weekend against New Mexico State (good timing for a suspension).

This quote from Richt makes me remeber just how fragile a CFB team is: "I don't know about [who will start]. We'll kind of see how it goes, but everybody else who resembles a running back will be competing." Apparently cornerbacks are currently in the mix for the job.

Our Fearless Leader posted some Rulz about this before the season started.  Anything related to UM is not OT.  Anything about any of our upcoming opponents is not OT.  I guess pretty much anything B1G is not OT, even if we don't play them.  ND is never OT either, I don't think.

Broader college football stuff is probably not OT if it somehow affects UM or B1G, and thus, realignment is not OT.

As for an S.E.C. team running out of running backs for its scrimmage against a team from New Mexico, it's probably OT ... however, it does beg the question:  they play football in New Mexico???

....but I think you might still be able to beat New Mexico State with something that merely resembles a running back. You might be able to beat NMSU with a dead mackerel actually.

Although, they did beat Minnesota, and Minnesota beat Iowa. Wow, what does that say?

UGA could run 120 straight QB sneaks and win this game.  This is one of the most political moves I have seen from a coach still on the hot seat.  If he wanted to make a real statement, he would have suspended them for Florida.

OTOH, the game is called "The World's Largest Cocktail Party," or at least it was until the policitcally correct police got ahold of it.  Why suspend anyone for drug use when the game's de facto nickname comes from alcohol use?

One of there CBs is a good running back and did quite well last year. But he wears the same number as the freshman Crowell. And Crowell won't switch so they haven't been able to use the other guy in offense this year. Looks like he gets his chance now.

I believe it was ESPN that alluded to "another program" fretting about potential positve results for synthetic marijuana, etc - this presumably is that program

A co-worker of mine and big time Georgia fan told me today that story is they were smoking some sticky icky icky.  It just baffles me how dumb some of these kids can be.
