OT - Tedy Bruschi on ESPN

Submitted by EZMIKEP on
I absolutely loved watching Tedy rip into the Colts franchise/coaching staff for the BS remarks that they made about losing. It was a disgrace in my opinion and its nice to see someone who tried to go undefeated with the Patriots call out the Colts on the whole regular season consecutive wins comment etc. etc. It was bullshit. Nobody talks about who has the regular season win record. They talk about perfect seasons. Hell they talk about teams like the pats who went 18-1 before they will ever talk about how the Colts won more regular season games over 2 years than what the Pats did in 2007 & they didn't even win it. I hope the Colts lose in their first game.

Not going for the history is bunk. I could see it if the Dolts had already lost a game or two resting Manning--but this whole "It's better to lose a game" thing that also seems to be in play is crap.

I was disapointed to see the Colt's lay down with so much football yet to be played. No one has been able to decisively say that it is better to rest players or continue to play your best football going into the playoffs. With out looking it up, who won the Super Bowl in '74? Very few people know. But most people know who won in '72 beacuse the Dolphins were the only team to ever have a perfect season. With a 5 point lead in game 15 and only 6 more quarters to play until the playoffs, I say go for history. When the regular season is over the Colt's would have had a bye week and their main goal of the year would have still been the same - win the Super Bowl. It's not like they even turned the game over to their second string quarterback (Sorgi). How many teams in the NFL would expect to beat a possible playoff team with their 3rd string quarterback. I need a drink.

is when teams that are going to have first round bye's rest their players. They already have a week off coming up. If you're a team that's got to play in the wildcard round (no way to get the first round bye or fall out of the playoffs) I can see getting your players some rest.

I really thought they had a chance to be "special" this year. Hopefully they come back this week and play the starters to proove last week was just a fluke

If the Colts win the Super Bowl, I submit that exactly zero members of their organization will care that they went, at worst, 14-2 in the regular season. Fact will be that they achieved more than the 2007 Patriots if they win in Miami in February.

Yeah, but if the Colts don't make the Super Bowl (a real possibility, considering how well the Chargers and Pats are playing, and given the Colts' occasional playoff problems), they will never live this down as an organization. If they win the Super Bowl, all is forgiven. But now they had damn well better do it.
