OT- Tebow Does it Again

Submitted by MGoBeer on

It makes no sense. Down 10-0 in the fourth quarter with 45 yards passing and a pick. The game was over multiple times. The announcers were stunned. I am in shock.  I love every minute of it. TEBOW!

[ED:BISB - Gonna go ahead and lock this one at this point. Broncos/Bears may or may not have been too OT... but the role of Jesus Christ in football is probably a bridge too far]

Tebow didn't play for Urban at Utah or BGSU.  We'll see how he does, but the idea his success was all due to Tebow is a bit wishful thinking for Michigan fans.

If you don't ask him to score more than 17 points, he's the best QB in NFL history. In 7 starts, he's directed the offense to 10-38-17-17-16-35-13. The 38 and 35 are against the Raiders and Vikings. If he's leading his offense to 24+ points, I'd be squarely on his bandwagon.

EDIT: I don't give a damn what he believes, or what he does with his free time. Makes no difference to me. His play on the field, along with those point totals, lead me to believe that this is fool's gold, and that the Broncos are on borrowed time with their current streak. You gotta score more than 2 TDs a game to win consistently in this league.

the ultimate team game.  It is all about the team, not about just the Qb or a rb or wr or defensive line or any one component.  Denver continues to find a way to win as a team.   Also note Tebow did manage somehow to put up 34 point against Oakland.

I'd expect Michigan fans to understand that better than anyone else!  THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM!

The guy does not tell you how to live your life, he does not tell you what to believe in, he does not make you have to do a single thing.  All he does is state what he believes and say what he thinks, and somehow make everyone around him better.  He wins, and his team wins.  Why that seems to bother other people says more about you than it ever says about Tebow....

I don't cheer against him for any personal reasons.  I only do so because he's the crowning achievement of the HC of our arch--rival.  As long as Tebow is doing well in the NFL, he can look at any dual-threat prospect and say "you see what Tebow's doing?  That was me."  I feel entirely justified in hoping Tebow has a wonderfully succesful and happy life that has nothing to do with success in the NFL.

Wow, you're pretty defensive about a post that was positive. I said I love it and it's true.  This run of wins is unprecedented.  I love football and this is crazy to watch. Any criticism leveled at him is perfectly valid. The only thing I said was that he had 45 yards in the first three quarters which is true. I think some people hunt criticism so that they can claim discrimination which is a bit ridiculous IMO.

The over-the-top fawning by announcers calling UF games was nausea-inducing on a good day.  I loved rooting against the guy.  I smirked after the Detroit game and got a bit of satisfaction from the meltdown.  But the comments after that game from both the Lions and the talking heads the week after were every bit as over-the-top in their insulting criticism as the worship was when he was at Florida.  I started pulling for him after that, and what can I say.  He's a nice kid.  I think religion is a private thing and ought to be kept private, but I think the kid just believes what he believes, is passionate about it, and is being genuine.

I'm rooting for him.  It's fun to watch read-option once in a while.  Today was the first game I actually got to watch-- and it was as exciting as rooting for my actual NFL favorite Steelers.

As a Bears fan screw this shit. However it is obvious Tebow is the new Charlie Sheen. All he does is one.

What you are witnessing is one of the flukiest runs any TEAM (yes, they still are a unit with 22 starters, not one) in sports has ever been. By this time next year, people will realize that and all the kid's talk about "magic" will be dead.

Hell, we might not have to wait that long. You can already smell Tim's historically bad playoff game performance around the corner.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

If you love the Lions then you have to like what happened today.  Regardless of what you think about Tebow as a QB, an evangelist or just a human being in general.   The dude just led a comeback that gave one of our rivals in the race for the NFC wild card a very important loss.  Go Timmy!

The better Tebow plays, the more I believe he is just a winner and the more I believe Urban Meyer is a fraud. He's a good coach that everyone is blowing up to be the best ever. I think he'll come down to earth at Ohio. GO BLUE

I'll also admit it too, I kinda like Tebow as well. I think it's admirable that he stands up for what he believes and seems like a sincere guy.  For all the supposed unadulturated love that Tebow supposedly receives, I see a majority of NFL analysts saying he is going to fail. I guess I just enjoy watching an unorthodox QB find success.

is grossly overshadowed by the "comeback" wins.  The Denver defense is AT LEAST as responsible for the victories as is Tebow.  He does seem to have some things go his way late in the fourth of every game lately, but he is also beating all the teams that are missing key players or are just bad in general.  Remember the Lions destroyed Denver and the Lions aren't really very good.

The combined record of the Denver's last six opponents is 35-43.  The Broncos have caught each of these teams at the perfect time;

Palmer played for the first time for Oakland after the starter went down.

KC is just bad

The Jets were giving away games when the Broncos played them

Phillip Rivers was playing very poorly around the time Denver beat them

MInnesota, enough said

The Bears don't have a QB or a RB.

Yeah, they still have to play the games and everybody is beat up this time of year, but aside from the Lions, it seems every team is "laying down" against Tebow, like some kind of Jedi mind trick.

I can't explain it, but if the Broncos make the playoffs, I still say they get drilled.  I'm not a Tebow fan or (Tebow)believer, but he seems very genuine and you cannot fault the man for his beliefs or his ability to motivate his teammates.

I know i'm old but damn I cant help but wonder what if.  What if an NFL coach back in 1978 with nothing to lose and everything to gain like Fox had the balls to install an option offense and hand the ball to Leach?  For all the talk about Tebow, Miller and even Denard for my money Ricky was the abolute tits when it came to a dual threat QB.

But....everybody KNOWS it could never work so it was never tried.  Just like everybody KNOWS the spread can't work in the pro's today.

It sure is exciting, but let's remember that Timmy is 7-1 agianst teams with a combined record of 37-48 with 4th quarter numbers put up against some pretty soft prevent defenses. And a big thank you to Marion Barber for todays version of for Tebow Time!

I can't believe he keeps winning the way he does.  By all accounts, he is as genuine as they come away from the field.  The media frenzy surrounding him is insane and he handles it so well.  The funny thing is you almost knew they were going to come back.  The kid is a winner...plain and simple.  People will have to listen to him talk about his God because he isn't going to stop.  It causes so many to people to hate him, but it is what it is.

People said the same thing about Craig Krenzel when "he" started out 3-0 in the NFL. Didn't last long.

Denver's defensive players are winners. Marion Barber and DCs who go to prevent schemes are losers. This isn't hard to figure out.
