OT: Talking Cars Tuesday - Cars you hate

Submitted by JeepinBen on

Hey, it's actually tuesday!

Per a great suggestion from "A Different Jason" this week let's get the hate out there. What car (s) do you absolutely HATE? Maybe you bought the wrong vehicle, maybe that rental you had for a week was the worst thing ever, maybe that car just has a stupid look on its stupid car face.

Let's hear the hate. The less rational the better.

Never driven one, so I probably shouldn't hate them as much as I do. I just hate the look of the car and I feel like they're always the cars that slow to a full stop to make even the slightest turn and fail to pull into the intersection in preparation for a left turn.

Edit: also the Nissan Cube. It looks like a Dr. Seuss-mobile.

Kia Soul. I just rented one and it was nice on the inside, but so many people would stop me and tell me it was ugly. Even the guy at the rental company talked about how ugly the car is.

I never even knew they even made a Mazda 2 until I had to use one as a rental car, and promptly got swallowed by a pothole.

Cars I hate... because generally, the people behind the wheel FUCKING SUCK and have ZERO idea what they are doing on the road:

1.  Any minivan -- GTFO of the left lane!!!

2.  Prius

3.  PT Cruiser

PT Cruiser: Is it ugly? Most certainly. Does it drive well? Not particularly.

BUT: the speedometer is recessed in the dashboard in such a way that it is hard to see the speed from the passenger seat...thus, I LOVED this car during driver's training

It was my parents "family cruiser" to haul us 5 kids around.  They drove this thing for like 15 years.  Solid white with a light blue interior.  The engine was between/behind the front seats, almost in line with the front tires.

I'll take a Pontiac Aztek, HHR, PT Cruiser, beige car, Scion, Nissan Cube, Prius etc. over this egg on wheels any day.

I would really find it difficult to find an American car I would actually enjoy. Obviously the new corvettes are nice but unrealistic. Anything in the sedan range is garbage though. Only American sedan I've liked in the last 10 or more years would be maybe a Chevy Cruze.

I think cars across the board are at a really low spot for styling and drivability. Designs and functions of these new cars don't interest me in the least.

This far in the thread and no mention of Hummers?  It is assumed, and 99% true, that if you own a Hummer, you have some form of megalomania.  Two people I knew who had them displayed varying degrees of sociopathy.  The people I don't know who have them are clearly deranged.

Had one up until a few months ago - absolutely terrible car.  The car spent over a month in the shop combined over 5 trips within its first 6 months and had a laundry list of recalls the whole year and a half I had it before I got rid of it and took the loss on its crappy residual value.

They did a shoddy job with the engineering and when its sales tanked they kept building them at the same rate, destroying the residual value for those that owned them.

I really hate the new badge. Not that it's new, but because it's ugly, cartoonish, and larger than the old one, which was actually classy. They fixed something that wasn't broken, and made it a hundred times worse. New Cadillacs would actually look better with no badge than the caddy cowboy belt buckle they've come up with.

We inherited some money and our plan all along was to pay on the house. But when the check showed up, that went out the window. I lobbied for the plan even in the dealership. And it has been a huge waste of money. Rides like a lumberwagon, I swear that if you were going 60 and hit bird poop that car would dent. It has about $3000 worth of door dings now. What a pile. The backs broke off both front seats and the dealer said oh well but then that got recalled and replaced. It is so loud inside also. I drive a 2014 Ram and there is no comparison, mine is better in every area except gas mileage. Right now the Avalon sounds like there is a wheel bearing out with 30,000 miles. Nice. As far as Toyota holding their value, don't make me laugh. Thing is worth less than half of what it was brand new after 2.5 years and 30000 miles. And if we hadn't bought it I would have halved my house payment, so that contributes to my anguish. Here's the best part: the dealership gave us the hard sell for a $4000 extended warranty. I said, dude, if we need a warranty why in the hell are we buying a Toyota? I should have taken that as a harbinger of what was to come. We can never get rid of it because thats when we lose the money, so my kid is going to be the only 8th grader driving an Avalon in the nation probably. I have had mine for 9 months, i told her I could go get the Ecodiesel and still lose less money than she would. Disclaimer, she only had to use about $15,000 cash after trading her Buick on the Avalon. That wasn't a large portion of the inheritance, she invested the rest. It's easier to hate the car than to be mad at my wife. She hates the car too but she is going to drive it until the daughter needs a car.

Mustangs. Mostly because the general demographic of owners/drivers is bros who think they're the best slice because of their car, or girls who don't know much about cars and think Mustangs are the only cool car. Yes it's pure stereotyping, but I just hate Mustangs.

That have a 8ft lift on it and have the following stickers on it "Its a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand" or "If your reading this flip over" or whatever it says. We get you like to off road. Sweet.

I would rather walk than drive a mopar.

I must admit I like the looks of the chargers, but I started hating all things Mopar in the 60's and I can't shake it.

I also can't understand VW love.  They over charge for ugly cars.

I like Fords and Honda these days.

173 posts and no one mentioned the Nissan Juke?  Looks like a busted frog.  I can't imagine who would find this car attractive. WTF are with the fog lights (or whatever they are) in the middle of the damn hood

i think the worst vehicle I ever drove was a dodge caliber. Everything about the experience was awful. Felt enterprise should've paid me to take it.

Cars I hate the most are the regular cars that people pimp out and spend all kinds of time and effort (and money) turning into hideous tinted, chrome trimmed, fake portholed nightmares. It hurts my car loving soul to see them. t's just wrong wrapping a new camaro in chrome and jacking it 2 feet in the air to fit ugly ass wheels under it.

You know, there is no car I have. I am a pretty kind person and hate is the feeling I gave up and I don't feel it anymore. When it comes to cars, I appreciate safety more than anything else. For example, I need Honda Civic cabin air filter Ecogard XC36080 of good quality and I will be happy.
