OT: Super Bowl Open Thread

About an hour to go. Hoping for a good game, expecting it to not live up to the hype. Go Saints! For New Orleans, and the continuing glory of Tom Brady. But in any regard, another couple of Wolverines are getting a ring. And at least we'll have the commercials...we'll see who the $2.5 million Denise is tonight...

I thought this was going to be a good game, but you never know. Right now, one of the more entertaining games I've seen recently. Just two great offenses making plays.

A close call - nice challenge. On first look, it seemed like he didn't have control, but on review it was clear he made a move and the Colt kicked it out. Huge play.

Lance Moore, older brother of former Toledo WR Nick Moore who had a billion catches in that awful game two seasons ago. I don't think that should have been a good conversion.

Manning still has the 2-minute warning, but they need to score now. This game turned with the onside kick - it took away a Colt possession and let them take the lead.

Was just saying we were due for a turnover... But then, before that I said Manning doesn't really have his old school implosions anymore, either...

Manning couldn't hold Brady's jockstrap. He never wins the big games. Look at the SB that Indy won and look how horribly he played in those playoff games. The defense carried them then. He's this generation's Dan Marino.

Trust me, as a Bears fan that had to suffer through the Rex/Orton clusterfuck, I can tell you we lost many, many games that would have been won with Threet playing QB. Manning played well in Super Bowl 41, but incompetence and defense won that game.

I know the narrative surrounding Manning is that he never wins the big game, but the guy has been money for years. That was a tough INT, but he has been nearly unstoppable all game. And to be fair, it's not like he is playing a mediocre team - this is the #1 team in the NFC. He had basically one bad play.

Manning is a great player, but the fact is he continually comes up short in the big games. As I posted above, even in '06 when they won the SB he played horribly with the following QB ratings: 71.9, 39.6, 79.1 and 81.8. I guess what rubs me the wrong way is when his name gets thrown around among being the best QBs of all time. He's not. You say Marino, I say Montana. You say Manning, I say Brady. Manning's throwing pick sixes, Brady's leading his team to another SB-winning drive. I'll take Tom into battle any day over Manning.
