OT: StubHub for preseason NFL...? Also, a quick HTTV congrats.

Submitted by Class of 1817 on

Has anyone had experience on StubHub for preseason tix? I want to check out a Seattle Seahawks game so normally I wouldn't wait, but I'm wondering if people have seen the prices go down as the game approaches for preseason tix?

...Or is there still some sort of oddly tenacious, T2-like demand for these as well?

Also, at the risk of hijacking, I didn't want to open up a new thread for this, but...

I just finished tearing through my copy of HTTV. Quick congrats to everyone and the hard work they put into it. It is, again, one of the best sporting publications of the year. With everything from The Enemy coverage to the Denard/Kovacs tributes, to the explorations of M history...just fantastic work all-around. Thanks for adding a highlight to the season.

I'm not sure you want to go the stub hub route for pre-season NFL games... I think you can get any number of tickets from poachers for pretty cheap. I am guessing the prices plummit on Stub Hub the longer you wait before game time.

Yo homes, I wouldn't be too worried about scoring preseason Hawks tix too far ahead of schedule.  I live in Seattle too, and I'll bet you'll be able to find tix on stubhub close to the date, or even be able to score em for cheap from a scalper on the walk from King St.

On a side note, I'm super pumped about going to the Hawks-Jags game in a Denard jersey.  I just hope nobody kills me.

I'm freshly moved from the other side of the country to Seattle and also looking forward to catching some Seahawks games. Just wanted to say hi to some other Seattle Michigan Fans. Any advice?

...for the Seahawks is great. Pyramid has the beer garden and Elysian has their several oddities on tap.

But if you just rolled into town, you gotta hit up Buckley's in Belltown for the M games! Alumni club runs the show, they bring in a small brass band for the Ohio game, and everyone knows how to HAIL! It's great...the best Michigan football joint I've seen outside of A2.

Buckley's is awesome.  I live across the street, and I go there for everything except Michigan games (which I incidentally spend alone on my couch under a blanket in a fetal position).

Regarding pregame for Hawks/M's games, I'd suggest King Street Bar and Oven.   Because seriously, look at this happy hour menu: http://www.kingstreetbar.com/happy-hour.

The brand new Henry's Tavern (http://www.henrystavern.com/location-seattle-WA.php), just south of Safeco is pretty damn good too.  100 taps, good drinks, strong pours, and seemingly decent food.

Tailgating options aren't great, but normally we just tailgate at my condo in Belltown (grill burgers on the roof and drink beers/whisky) and then cab down to the game.

Also, I'd suggest checking out a couple Husky games this year.  The Arizona game at the renovated Husky stadium should be a really good one.  Oregon, Boise, and Wazzou are also visiting this year.

That happy hour menu is ridiculous. I think I'll play it safe and try out all the options, I'll be here for a while.

Yeah, I want to check out some Husky games too (as long as they don't conflict). I was thinking Wash St too but didn't realize they were on the edge of the world at the southeast corner of the state.

Class of '02 here, how about you guys?

Grew up in Ann Arbor (dad went to the university), went to Huron, and then went as far from home as possible for for college (went to Caltech in Pasadena, class of '09).  Popped up to Seattle for work the September after graduation, and I haven't left.

Look for Husky night games.  The Arizona game is a sure thing, as Michigan has a bye, as is Boise (CMU is at 12:30 our time, and Boise is at 7).  The Oregon game will be close (2 PM our time start vs PSU, and probable 7 PM UW-UO kickoff).  Definitely try to go to the Apple Cup - its like UM-MSU without as many juggalos, and Michigan-Ohio is the next day.

Also, I highly recommend taking a boat to a night game sometime.  It's a ton of fun, and one of I think two or three venues in the country where you can do it.  Plus, you can even hop back on the boat at halftime to grab a quick drink.

Since you are new to the area, and this thread is actually quite haphazard (having been hijacked by the OP himself), here's a list of some of my favorite watering holes and eateries in the city:

Moon Temple Restaurant - Wallingford - this place is awesome, though it might be getting torn down for a Walgreens (ugh).  Stiffest drinks ever.  Seriously.  Mediocre chinese food in a super divey bar.  Great atmosphere, tons of fun, plus I host a trivia there on Sundays at 8!

Pam's Kitchen - U-District - this place has ridiculous Trinidadian food.  Think of a gourmet version of Bev's Carribean Kitchen, back on Packard.  Get the bone-in goat.

Buckley's - Belltown - Already mentioned, but worth another.  Sports bar with 24 taps, full bar, very solid kitchen (and great late night happy hr), and fun atmosphere.  Plus its the Michigan bar.

Matt's in the Market - Pike's Place Market/Downtown - home of what I've found to be a consensus 'best burger in Seattle', along with a bunch of other great food items.  It's literally in the market, and all food is sourced from the market, whenever possible.  But the burger... oh my god.  It's a lamb burger, with goat cheese, pepper crusted bacon, field greens, and a bit of balsamic, all on a fresh brioche bun.

Zeek's Pizza - everywhere - IMO the best pizza delivery in Seattle.  Fresh as hell, never greasy, and loaded with toppings.  The crust is pillowy, soft, and 100% worth eating.

Lemme know if you have specific requests (per neighborhood or food type).

Class of (20)'01.

And yeah, lots of good options for wherever you live in the Emerald City.

I'll have to hit up Moon Temple again soon...(Hadn't heard about the Walgreen's there...there's already one just down the street!)

And yes, I fully approve what I hath begun as a thread to be jacked.

...there's gotta be a better way of saying that.

Not trying to thread jack, however I am since it's "OT" and "STUB HUB"

I recently got an offer to go with a friend to the Notre Dame game and sit in his seats at ROW B... the dilemma: I need $275... Would anyone on here be willing to pay that for a Student Ticket? (Student Ticket, ND game) If this is unappropriate, MODS please delete, but I tried adding it to the spreadsheet and the site would not allow it.
