OT: Stevie Brown signs with Texans
A man we once knew as one of the worst safeties in Michigan's history (although he finished his senior season as a pretty good SLB) continues a pretty solid NFL career as a safety, signing with the Texans.

As a Texans fan, I like it. But rumors are we're looking to trade DJ Swearinger, which seems like a waste on such a young player.
I always said, of the guys on that defense, Stevie Brown would wind up a solid NFL guy and Donovan Warren would wind up out of the league.

I'm sorry, but starting off a post by qualifying Brown as "one of the worst safeties in Michigan's History" is uncalled for. Everyone remembers Brown and his struggles, no need to lead off a post about good news for himthat way.
At his hybrid spot he was lights out

It's great to see Stevie doing so well in the NFL!
Looks like the problem was bad coaching, not his skil level
Stevie Brown's Michigan teammate back there, Johnny Sears, was easily the worse safety I have ever seen, and might be the worse Michigan starter I have ever seen play.
As I recall, Sears lost his starting job about 4 games into the season, was off the team before the end of the year, transferred to a DII type school, and couldn't make it there either.
Sears found his way into the NFL with the Bengals, although I'm not sure how long that lasted or if he's still there.
Sears played at Eastern Michigan his senior year and played quite well. you may remember him making a few plays against us that year in fact. He's had a fairly decent career in the CFL to date as well.
Glad to see him sticking in the league
Texans fan here as well. I can't wait to see Stevie play live. On the Swearinger deal I think it's his off field pyscho behavior that is causing the rumors.
It's his piss poor tackling, repeatedly being out of position, and terrible grade out last year that are causing the rumors.

Shows how bad our defensive coaching was that all of these guys ended up in the league after playing like an FCS defense from 2008-2010.
Why is this considered off topic?

He was the main reason I was still watching them. Mike Cox was injured last season and cut a few days ago...
Interestingly, the only Michigan player left with the Giants is Thomas Gordon, who was signed as an undrafted free agent last year, injured in preseason but kept on IR, and signed to a futures contract. So they must have seen something in him in camp before he got injured. A new reason to watch.
The guy was athletic as all get out but just never put it together while at UM. I really think that his coaches struggled to utilize him properly and teach him how to play. Hope he has a long and successful career in the NFL.
He was one of the best safeties in the league a couple years back. He's had a way above average NFL career, good for him

Great athlete and obviously a very, very hard worker.
