OT: Steve Spurrier is a Delusional A-Hole

Submitted by FauxMo on

Spurrier today: "“Everyone in the South knows he should have won the Heisman Trophy,” Spurrier said Monday on the Paul Finebaum Show after Manning’s retirement announcement."

I like how it's everyone "in the South," like geography should matter here. But it does make even clearer the arrogance down there about football.

Here are a few other things "everyone knows":

-Spurrier should have never left Florida to become an NFL failure

-Spurrier stuck around way too long at South Carolina

Here's a situation where it would behoove Michigan fans to just take the high road and go "Ha, okay Spurrier" instead of creating knee-jerk anger posts like this. Seriously, who cares what he now has to say about the 1997 Heisman race. We know who won.

No, I just can't believe it makes you this angry that somebody said that Peyton Manning should have won the Heisman. It was 19 years ago and there was a clear winner, Charles Woodson. Suddenly one statement by Spurrier makes him a failure and a 'delusional a-hole'? It's just a classless, worthless post to make.

I'm so sorry, sir. How long am I on "time-out"? Do I have to go sit in the corner, or can I stay where I am and just put my head on my desk?? :-(

FYI, I thought Spurrier was a classless jerk long before this. It's not a "suddenly" kind of thing, but whatever...

Hey Pussy, don't act like such a tough guy while behind a keyboard. You're the King of dumb assery. Trump is the leading Rep. presidential candidate dip shit. If your head wasn't permanently lodged up your ass you may be aware of this. It don't get much more political than that. Fuck stain.

Wut? Message boards were created for exactly this: ANGAR directed at people who will never see it and even if they did, they wouldn't care one bit. Sometimes people take this board too seriously, including "concern-posts" like this.

Spurrier isn't "delusional;" he's just opinionated.  And for him to say that about someone who played for a school he has always hammered with lines like "Can't spell Citrus Bowl without UT," he must believe it.

Spurrier lives in the South and was playing the "South Card" for a Southern audience.  I agree that anger isn't necessary here.  I really think laughter would be more appropriate.

On a side note, I just want to remind you all that I have been telling you about UT fans, SEC fans and their fixation on "Peyton Manning's Heisman" since I signed up here.  That is all.

He's right.  It's the anti-QB, anti-offensive player bias of the Heisman Trophy voters.  No matter what kind of numbers offensive players put up, they just don't get noticed by the voters.  That's why defensive players, punters, and long snappers win the thing every season.

He is just trolling us and Tennessee fans.  (He mocked UT and Manning when he was coaching Florida.  "Can't spell Citrus wihout UT" and the line refenced already about Manning coming back to school to be a 3 time Citrus Bowl MVP are examples.)

Just laugh and move on.  Do not feed him, or he will return often,

It also helped that Tennessee lost to Florida, making Manning 0-4 against the Gators and him throwing two bad interceptions in that game.  Keith Jackson said in order to win the Heisman, you can't just be a great player.  You have to make the big plays in the big games.  And in Manning's biggest game during the regular season, he lost.

If Tennessee beats Florida, I think Manning wins the Heisman despite Woodson's showing against Ohio State.

He didn't get onto the field until the game after the Florida game that year (1994), but he was 0-3 against the Gators from there on out.

Michigan went 3-0 against OSU during Woodson's time as a Wolverine.

Spurrier is like some Confederate-flag waving knucklehead blathering about how much better a general Lee was than Grant.

That Heisman was won during the MSU game.  When Todd Schultz thought he would throw the ball out of bounds and Chuck had another idea. Also, can we bring up the last game Woodson and Manning played against each other this season? From my memory, I think Woodson picked him twice.

He did not win because people outside of "e'rybody in the South" watched Michigan play the #1 schedule in America while UT lost to Florida and beat up on a very average SEC.

And if I was voting that year, I would've voted: Woodson, Leaf, Manning, Moss.  I thought Leaf was better and definitely more valuable to his team than Manning.

A suggested new title for this post:

Steve Spurrier Likes To Stir Up Shit

Yep, that works.  Spurrier has never passed up an opportunity to troll ... anyone.  While he's dead wrong here, I enjoy his antics in general.

"You can't spell 'Citrus' without 'UT'" - etc.
